Both the album and Substance mix. Elegia and Avalanche bore me. Guilty partner annoys me. Dunno why. IALP is crap. And I just don't generally like the Republic sound.
I agree Elegia is boring, Seb, but not Avalanche. That's a charming little song.
...yes, shellshock...i miss Hooky on this track...he appears only in tiny portions on this one...

i'd probably like it more if it wasn't stuck at the end of Republic - which I'm normally pretty sick of by the time I get round to Avalanche
Hey Marco the Man to me you epitimise the German ethic. No matter how much any one tries to provoke a response you come back like clockwork, respond in a calculated precise manner then leave!!!.... now why can't I do that?
Anyway there was this buzzard etc...

Republic is getting quite a severe slapping isnt it!
Still i voted 'everyone everywhere'
but please let us not the forget golden moments..
notably - Regret,Special
Both absolute garbage. New Order are headed down a Rock-y Path with no return at least Republic was listenable at low volumes the whole way through. With GR, even playing at a whisper, I have to get up and skip tracks (yes I have a remote and program functions and a CD burner to create my own without duff tracks, but I'm also a lazy fucker (which explains why I respond to Neworderforums All Day Long))
Brian, would you have suggested that NO were heading down a Pet shop Boys esque path of limp synths after Republic? I certainly thought so. At least theres some variety in GR, all the Republic tunes after Spooky mesh into 1 for me (bar Special of course)
I agree though, I can't listen to Slow jam at any volume.
I'm surprised no one mentioned 'World in motion' yet. Surely SOTN is much better. OK, 'World in motion' it is.

Got a certain emotional attachment to some of us English peoples I should imagine. Every time I hear the song I can picture Gazza shedding a tear vs Gemany.

Patty if your into New Order, and then your into football, and then your into World Cup football, and then your into it when your national team is arguably the best team they've had in decades when your in your own personal prime... then out of nowhere your New Order band happens to do the theme to the World Cup (every 4 years this happens so you could be dead by the next time) of your own national team when they are particularly excellent.
Fucking hell Pat you have to live it to believe it. It's the one moment in NO's history that cannot translate to the States, however, could to the rest of Europe as 99% are footy bonkers.

Hope this helps describe what this song means to some of us P bird.
Worsht shong ish "Sell Sock". No it isn't.
Biggest load of shite produced by the Order, IMHO, is Slow Jam. Load of bollocks. I have scratched my CD at the appropriate part so it won't play, that's how bad it is.
Last time we had this vote I plumped for All Day Long and received 1,432 death threats and an empty tube of Pringles through the post. This time I shall expect marriage proposals and free flights to Australia !

OK I get the picture, but without all the emotion attached WIM is a pretty crappy song.
Hey...I've never really cared too much about footy...but I still liked this song...of course...I'm kind of biased...as I've stated before...

I have to confess you've put it in a new perspective for me, Huntsy, but then that's why I'm always delighted to see your posts.

Although I voted for We All Can't Stand It, there's a strong case to be made for Slow Death.
Murder is er, murder and SOTN is pretty crap. Shame of the Nation was not bad though.
Someone Like You is the worst track on GR IMHO. It's not crap, but it's just so average and bland. At least the crap NO songs are tracks where they're trying to be different. SLY is an average Electronic track and that ain't good enough in my book.

That's "Major" key... and yes, I have had brain surgery.
In fairness to WAS, it was never given much of a chance. Stuck between Age of Consent & The Village, the poor little blighter, it was always gonna look shite.
Slow Jam, played on Steve Lamacq, not bad.
We All Stand is a fucking good song ! Great set opener, mellow smokey Ronnie Scott's type vibes and all that jazz. Definitely in my top 10 New Order tracks. You're all wrong :)
Mmmm, Slow Jam is really really crap. But so are Shellshock an state of the nation.
And now for those spitting on Thieves like us, We all stand and Everything's gone green: this is what you deserve :headoff: These are really great songs.
dammit Nanne...I'm almost sorry I voted for We all stand...but is death really what we deserve???
My vote's for Liar, second would be Avalanche. Otherwise I dig Republic. And take that vote for everyone everywhere back!
