Marty, when you talk about dumbing down, you are more correct than you realise, except that it won't be 10 years down the line, it is now!

I know, Phil - dead right it is now, but like, if it's bad now think of what it'll be LIKE in ten years time.... that was the point I was trying to make. Makes me shudder just to even think about it, seriously. :nonono: And they call this "progress"?. I could almost laugh if I wasn't so apoplectic with rage.

I have read your 'thread' and gee buddy you need something in your life - something more than New Order. I'm not talking material things but in your heart, body and mind the spirit of Jesus can uplift you Martin. Seek and ye shall find my friend.> > Jerry

Dear Jerry - I know you mean well so many thanks for contributing here , much as I respect your particular beliefs and notions, I'm afraid to say this, but, I feel that the world is in its present fucked up state precisely because of this behemoth that we call "religion". That's all I can really say on the issue, except to add that, if I were to devote any of my future life to embracing a belief, then Buddhism is probably the only one that appeals to me for it's fundamentally non-violent and non-confrontational values and mores (ie- there is no god to look up to - only yourself. In Buddhism, it's your self-worth that matters, and as you can see, I don't harbour much of that at present). Plus, I also get the chance to set fire to myself if things really aren't working out at all. No disrespect to you Jerry - seriously - but thanks all the same for mentioning it.

Love and peace, Martin.

Well, Martian, I couldn't have said it better. Almost agree with every word you said.

See...

I told you I rarely have anything to say....(damned intstant messages).

Martin,

I've been reluctant to put anything in here, because I'm not really good with words when it comes to the emotianal side of things...(go look at my meager little words of comfort for Liv back when her father passed)...but here goes...

One of the reasons I come into this place so often is to read the writings of people that I have genuinely become quite fond of, even if it doesn't always show. The so called friends that I have are now dispersed across all of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and so it is quite difficult for us to arrange a common meeting point. Besides, these alleged friends keep quesitioning the wisdom of my travels to see the Order this year, and my continued attempts to find a way to Australia...and meeting up with them requires that I drive all over Dallas to do so, but they can never be bothered with coming to my neck of the woods, even though my part of town has so much more to offer than where they live...

Whereas amongst our little group, we can say the dumbest things without much of a backlash (and I can say some fairly stupid shit). I'm always intrigued to find out what you, Shug, Muffy, the Huntsman, Patrick, Seb, Tabsy, Liv and all the others have to say on whatever topic has come up that day.

I also had a problem with my own self confidence (abusive father, lack of communication with others, a loner you might say), but went to one of those counselors (you know, a psychologist), and found out that I was actually an alright chap (for the most part). Of course, seeing how you guys over there seem to have to be dead to see a medical doctor, I don't know if this is readily available to you, but if it is, and you have not already tried it yet, I give it a high recommendation (but watch it, the stupid bastard will try to talk you out of drinking and any..ahem...illegal activities).

Well...I don't know if this has helped at all, but I thought I would give it a shot...just keep coming back in here in, revel in the warmth of our communal love of the Order and each other...man, I sound fairly out there right now!!!

Jeff, my man, you see it aint that difficult to express whats on yer mind! And i can assure you there is no one here that will make fun about it or put crap remarks and if they do there's lots of people willing to slag them off!! We should find a way to make it possible to Email someone to death...

Jeff, you are a good man.... what you say makes sense...

And i know i tease about this place being like a coke commercial at times, but we do all look out for each other, and enjoy each others company (even if it is over a screen... lol)...

Lets hope this carries on... you guys have certainly been invaluable to me over the past few weeks.... giving me other things to think about, and trying your hardest to be good friends and cheer me up! :)

time for a group hug methinks......

Jeff - yer a good lad, and quite frankly I'm amazed anyone has the slightest bit of interest in anything I say - I mean it pisses me off sometimes that most of my comments are not actually about New Order - I have plenty to say on the subject - it's just, when I'm posting late at night - hardly anyone else is - sometimes I feel a bit of an imposter - because of this, but I must admit this place is brilliant for talking to different people with the same tastes - even if my posts are sometimes quite ludicrous - keep yer chin up Dude...Shug

Hey Martin, Your favorite Stereo Lab basher here. Anything I've said on this sight torwards you has not ment with any malace. Just good hard ribbing. I to believe in you and your words. From reading this thread and listining to all these great people, you have all the support you need right here! As Muffy said you can only lead your life in the direction you want, no one else. It took me 27 years to find that out, and I'm 29 years old now. So that's only 2 years of real happiness. I'm not talking about finding god, getting married, or having a child. I'm talking about trully finding myself. I went on a really long holiday to Asheville, North Carolina, U.S.A. maybe thats what you need, is a move away from your present enviroment, if your afraid of losing your comfort zone, maybe that's what's pushing you into the rock. Even if the move is temporary and you go back to old friends and family, the time away will give you the space you need to search your soul. Life is grand when you find IT and I hope you do. This is mindless dribble I suppose, but I hope you get something from it. By the way, what's wrong with Elton John? Oh, about the Christmas/ New Years plastic thing, It's not commercialism that bothers you, it's you that bothers you. I always thought it was about being with friends and family not the outside influences. Cheers mate. Take care of yourself, cause only you can find that happiness for your soul.

Actually Mr Sun King - and cheers for atoning for your (deliberately provocative perhaps?) outburst earlier - but I must beg complete difference of opinion on the Christmas viewpoint: how do YOU know that the commercialism doesn't bother me? If you've read other onliner's posts elsewhere you will see that I am certainly not alone in feeling despair and exasperation about all that crap that passes for a "festival" . So I disagree totally there. Are you telling us that Christmas isn't commercialised to the point of total saturation and irrelevance? I don't believe that for one moment. Sorry. Anyway, to the other big issue: as you all know, I've been talking about leaving this country for ages - Holland being the best place to go simply because it's the closest and I therefore won't feel too far away from my friends and family. Besides, I don't really like flying for too long periods so an hour on the plane suits me just fine. But, I've now decided against that - having just browsed at great length on the web on life in New Zealand - I reckon I should do no worse than head off there instead. It's the other side of the world, I know. But somehow, I think that will kind of be appropriate in an almost perverse sort of way. I know this has only just happened in the past few hours, and I know Mario and D.J may be shocked at this sudden about turn, but let's just say, I'm working on something.....New Zealand all of a sudden looks very attractive and may possibly be my future place of retreat, but then who knows what will happen in the next few months?.... ;)

Good choice as well Martin! Beats Holland when it comes to a nice climate and lovely nature as well. Besides , they've got KIWI's:jump:. Don't know anyting bout their drugs policy though...but it is big enough to find a remote spot to grow your own!!:lol:.Or maybe there is some spiritual gaining in Marsipulami's when you dry and smoke them.

But, remember, it's still a long long long plane journey away - and I don't like flying either. So there's your problem......

I invited him to contribute keyboards for us for Community, before we'd recruited Phil, but didn't hear anything back. Hope he's ok.

Martin, you're not the only one going through these kind of problems. Now I know me telling you that isn't gonna help but you're not the only one. These kind of anxieties are some of the worst shit you can through, especially social anxiety. The reason i'm telling you this is because I go through it aswell. It's like you want to be yourself but these horrible thoughts just stop you from doing it. You want to enjoy and live a happy life but this gets in the way.

There's a website and forum with other people with anxiety, depressin problems etc which can help a bit, here's the link:

http://www.algy.com/anxiety/index.shtml

At the end of the day though, it's up to you where you want to be, who you want to be. I'm going through the same kind of shit I can tell ya.
