Is he going to be singing those lyrics when they visit Japan? I can only imagine what the autocue will look like.

Well, not that bad. The lyrics now make definitely more sense.

not so bad really. japanese isn't the hardest language to pronounce, and barney sounds ok.

ack. i'm sorry. i'd thought that the "post" button at the end of a thread would be posting within that thread, not a fresh new post on the forum.

That shouldn't be the last word on this problem.. it's really annoying, and gives you or the other moderators even more - unnecessary - work to do...

[:D] who'd a thunk it - little japanese girls will be tossing their Hello Kitty for NO bobbleheads (see wen order) to pop into their knapsacks with their wee heads sticking out bobbling as they run down the street or a white cell phones with NO in orange or, even better, vice versa, flamboyent orange with white NO and the ring tones ~ someone get me a patent lawyer...

Are we sure that that is actually Japanese and not just something that Barney's made up after a bit of angel dust and pernod?

mmm...I don't think so...

Well, no...me neither. But it's so different in one respect that it's a head turner at least.

Ok, so lets say barney sings this live, and assuming that A. he can't read japanese and B. the autocue wont display it anyway, and that C. he will perform it with the  same effortless improvisational ability as he did when he sang with  "RealNewOrder"(tm)  in English. I can think of only one pertainent question to ask....

What is Japan's current military strength, could they destroy the UK?  Cos let's face it, barney is gonna THINK he's saying "gimme one more night....etc" when he's actually singing " the Emperor touches children and your ancestors were all honourless traitors".

If there's anyone from Japan here who can think of something more offensive and more likely to make Samurai blood run thru the veins of some quiet Tokyo teens, please feel free to enlighten me. OR stick around and wait for Barney himself :)

( and you yanks needn't laugh, Warner's is yours, i'd keep an eye on Pearl for a while)

Nope, from what I've heard I think it's true.

Personally I think it's an awful idea although it's not New Order or Barney singing, it's an "indie" Japanese band isn't it?  They were "entrusted" with "remodelling" the track for the Japanese market and I do recall seeing a gushing interview where they thanked New Order. (Can't remember the band name)  Don't get me wrong here, I absolutely adore Japan.  I visited there in 2001 (just missed the Fuji rock festival) and I loved every minute.  But I've seen Jap rock bands and they tend to lack everything in terms of irony; they take it so seriously!  They're only emulating what they see from the West I s'pose and most of that is bollocks.

It's simply a bad idea (to me) and I would much rather have preferred a new b-side on the Japanese release.  It's where we normally look!  I'm not buying any of this "we have enough for a new album" malarkey.  I would put money on the fact we won't see another new New Order album for at least two years which is far too long in any case.  I mean I disliked Get Ready as an overall LP, but the 3 b-sides from that era were superb!  Sabotage, Player in the League and Behind Closed Doors were all excellent and certainly not the usual duff instrumentals we normally get.

Oh well, we'll have to put up with this bizarre "cover" of Krafty and desperately hope some b-sides appear on the next single release.

Ally.

it is barney singing. as far as i can recall, the japanese band was only asked to translate the lyrics into japanese for barney to sing. they aren't the ones singing or performing the song. when they thanked new order in the interview, it was for the chance to be involved with a band they love, and not for the chance to cover the song themselves.

the lyrics aren't just stuff barney made up. i can't understand all of it, but barney clearly sings japanese phrases, like "kimi wo nasanai" (i won't let you go - actually i'm not so sure of the exact verb), "ai no sekai" (the world of love), "kimi dake zya nai" (you're not the only one).

Do this: open another thread with the title "Barney singing Krafty drunk without autocue" and put that link there. I bet almost everyone would believe it.

Allejo, you need Real Player to listen to it.
