Opening riff reminds me of Supergrass.

Wax lyrical...

I've already said so much.

The lyrics.

The music.

The singing.

It's perfect.

Except, as Muffy noted, it seems to end too quickly.

The song is 99.9% perfect.

The 0.1% is due to the "in the corner over there" lyric.

Otherwise, it's fucking genius.

"In the corner over there" is a low point but "The sky is high the road is long" is a highlight which sends shivers done the spine - possibly the best bit of the album? Puts a smile on my face, a glorious track.

Is it "high"? I thought it was "hard"?

It doesnt end too quickly... well yes it does but thats part of its beauty, genius is never overstated, the fact it seems to cut off in its prime makes it all the more endearing.

I do actually agree with that. It's part of the perfection. It's amazing they didn't ruin it somehow.

which kinda leads me to believe that it shouldnt be a single and perhaps thats why they wont release it as a single. It doesnt need remixing or changing in any way shape or form.

Krafty is the ideal candidate as is Jetstream for "tinkering" but Turn aint!

I agree with all of that too.

It's funny, this line is one of the only parts of the tune that grates a little. To me, it embodies Barney's 'clutching at the cliche book' method of penning lyrics. Too obvious.

Which line, DC?

As I said in an earlier post, I always heard it as "hard," not "high." But given my apparent mistake in hearing "Van Gogh," what do I know.

Don't take this the wrong way Patsy, but don't you have a job to go to? Your posting recently has been nothing short of wildly prolific and by my rough timezone estimates you should be earning a keep about now. It's entirely entertaining of course, but I just don't get it.

But back on track, I believe it is 'high'.

Kind of as you'd expect a sky to be.

Well, DC, the next time I listen to track 10, I will definitely focus on trying to decide whether it is "high" or "hard."

Yeah Turn is most definitely one of my favourites off the new album, if not the favourite. It just seems to be one of those 'classic' New Order songs along the lines of Age of Consent and Dream Attack only it stands equally as good next to them IMO. To my ears it's "high" in that lyric you mentioned, dunno how much sense a "hard sky" would make, unless it was cloudy or something... Turn sounds like a fantastic combination of Monaco's Shine and Dream Attack to me, all the right elements are there and fit together perfectly. Am I the only one thinking a song of this mood and style was completely absent from Get Ready? :nonono:

I don't think Turn will make a single, mainly because New Order have a history of choosing bad singles and ignoring gems that could've done much better in the charts. To this day I still wonder why 60 MPH was released instead of Turn My Way (the Corgan connection would've done them lots of favours in the US) or SLY (a radio mix a'la Gabriel+Dresden would've been amazing). Get Ready only got 2 singles (HTS doesn't count) and I really hope WFTSC gets 3 at the very least because there are a wealth of strong "pop" tracks on it. So far we've had Krafty, it's obvious Jetstream is next... so what about single #3?? I vote for Turn or Morning Night And Day.

I'd ask you about bees Ally, but humans only have a life expectancy of 80 years.

Jetstream is confirmed for May and WFTSC is being pencilled in for August, according to our contact at Warner AU.

And can I just interject that George Mathinson, our friend inside, has admitted that the re-mix maxi-pack variety pack of Free Range Eggs is going to be released in China on Gypsy Disks.

Although he didn't say whether they would be distributed via the usual Warnsby / Taiwan Terry packaging house.

Head's up for a great sound though chaps!

Oh right.. Well WFTSC is a great track too, not sure if I would've chosen it as a single (too many words in the lyrics for the average singles buying public to keep track of, much like Huntsman with my posts) I wonder if the band will reverse their policy and knock out a few b-sides for these singles or are we in for another remix fest?

Ally.

I'll probably regret this but Ally; 'remix fest'?

Do you mean - 'set of baffling bananas loosely associated with the original material spread across fifty nine similar looking disks?'

Just had a look at the lyrics on this site and it seems to me that a few are incorrect.

The falling night believes should be Their falling like the leaves

Listening through months and years should be Days turned into months and years

In cold blood we don't care should be Its cold but we don't care

Hey, DC, since you publicly denounced Pastie's recent post extravaganza he's disappeared from view.

I hope he hasn't attempted to consume the largest vessel of coffee ever brewed to contemplate the why's and wherefores of the modern road vehicle.

Don't mean to be picky, but it would be "They're falling like the leaves."
