This thread is to pay homage to Ian, feel free to post your thoughts on all this.

Don't forget to listen to BBC 6 Music, it's Joy Division day in tribute to this event.

In tribute, I shall play Atmosphere tonight.

Walk in silence....

Good on yer Spot, nice touch. And may the wonderful man be content, and maybe even smiling in heaven I think he deserves to live on in so many memories as he does:music:

I just happened to watch the New Order story which does a pretty decent job at paying tribute to the great man.

Watching 24pp and how they celebrate his life is also pretty moving as well.

Just to hear him sing "Transmission" again would be sublime.

Rest In Peace, Ian. You were a legend and will never be forgotten. A young life cut way too short but a legacy that lives forever on.

Life keeps getting stranger every day.

The whole reason I even got started on countless Hasselhoff-related threads and "you vote" bollocks on this website was because a buddy of mine played "Love Will Tear Us Apart" back in '97 or '98, and I've been a fan ever since. So obviously Ian has a lot to answer for :D

God rest yer troubled soul, Mr. Curtis (I'll put on some LWTUA or SLC before I hit the hay tonight) :thumb:

Enough reverence. Let's just play some ripping tunes. First up, DISORDER...and working my way through the short catalogue.

RIP Ian

May God comfort your daughter.

Is it me or is anyone else bothered by the fact that he left a child that never knew him?

Do they have a copy of Community at the BBC? - they should be playing some of those tracks today also.

"People like you, find it easy...always in tune...walking on air."

May 18th marks the 25th anniversary of Ian Curtis' death. He is one of the most influencial, most gifted figures in music, and he is very important to me personally. One thing when listening to Ian Curtis singing, other than that voice, is his lyrics are so honest, they are so real. It's bone-chilling. He put so much of himself into what he was singing and what he was writing, it leaves an emotional impact on the listener. His lyrics are very identifiable.

From Dead Souls: Someone take these dreams away, That point me to another day, A duel of personalities, That stretch all true realities. That keep calling me, they keep calling me.

I'm not saying shut yourself in your room and listen to Joy Division music all day. But maybe, when you're waiting in line for Star Wars, turn to a few Joy Division songs on your I-Pod. Ian Curtis was a powerful singer, a masterful writer, a mind-blowing performer on stage...he was a visionary. Thank you Ian, for your legacy. Rest in Peace.

There's a chat going on at joydivisioncentral.com at 7:00pm London Time (2:00pm New York Time).

Wait until Friday and there will be a live recording available :thumb:

Listened to Unknown Pleasures this morning. Stunning record. Remember me, how and why I got into the whole JD/NO-thing.

That picture of ian and natalie is haunting. Was that the photo stolen from the photoshop that deborah mentioned in the book.

Nice one, Maya!

Thanks for helping get it all started, IC. You left quite a mark on all of us and many, many others. Passover gets cranked today.
