I'm with Mike (again), What they need to do is release every godamn live video and there are heaps of it (especially the Barcelona 84 effort) and then a monthly release of live audio material. That might keep the old bastards (of which I am one) happy.

first... neither Warner or the band would make much if any money off of these vinyl, this is hardly a profit venture... maybe just investing in building interest in New order

this seems like it is just for fun... collectors and DJs who fancy something different. no one is forcing you to collect them all.

What irks me most about all this is that if they don't get a CD release, the usual suspects are going to be fleecing promos on eBay for kings' ransoms.

Surely some sort of deal can be made to press a small run of CDs for NOOL and the fanbase? Pre-sell only, they'd be guaranteed a minimum of sales to make it viable?

Jeez, I'd buy all 12 vinyl 12"s AND any CD compilations of the mixes and I'm sure others would too.

I think it's possible Warner UK licensed these tracks to New State for vinyl-only releases and will keep these for a potential CD release themselves. I wonder what the terms of licensing are (how many over what period of time)? Also, were these mixes recently commissioned or have they been sitting around waiting to be used from past projects?

It's a French abbreviation for 'cassette'.

K is pronounced 'Ka' and the word for 7 is 'sept', put them together and you get 'ka-sept'. Those crazy Frenchies...

I want them,the completist in me is saying buy them ,but i dont think i will. Depends on how much theyre gonna be if they are £6 a throw thats £72,quite a lot of money for a poor unemploy(able)ed nutbag like me!

It would be nice to hear some Morning, Night and Day mixes, but some should be worth buying. I recommend putting a deposit for a record vinyl needle at the major record shops to check them out.

There is actually a valid critisism here regarding Warners (or someone in New Order's camp) ongoing obsession with ignoring Compact Disc as the choice medium to release these sorts of tracks on. Once again some potentially great mixes are confined to vinyl; a shitty, outdated and inconvenient medium. It was deeply irritating regarding WFSTC (Single) to see all the Promo CD-Rs which so easily could've been released instead of 3x7" going for such exorbitant amounts on eBay

Nostalgic record player owners will cry "Vinyl has better sound quality than CD!" but I personally would rather play my music on a medium that doesn't require extensive cleaning to avoid crackles and degrades slightly with each play. I would also like to be able to easily play it through my computer and perhaps put on an iPod. Last time I checked, Plextor weren't making 12"RW drives

I agree that it is annoying (hey, i like to play CDs loud in my car, cant beat the convience) and i don't even have my turntable even set up currently, but there isn't all that big a market for the remixes with the over 30 crowd. I've read many, many times on this site people complaining about how the house remixes are stupid and why do they bother putting them out, kind of an ignorant stance IMO but I'm sure the record company have noticed this attitude and are trying for the coolness factor with DJs and collectors who appreciate vinyl.

Well, the hunt is on for somewhere we can buy these nice and cheaply. Some vinyl 12"s aimed at DJs can go on sale for £7+, if that's the case with these, count me out - I have an overdraft to pay off after Xmas and can't weigh it down more heavily!

That's one thing London/Warners need to be aware of - although New Order have a loyal fan base of completists, that fanbase is getting older, and things like rent/mortgages/family is becoming more of priority than track down expensive vinyl-only releases featuring mixes we already have, and a few mixes that may well be pants (otherwise, why didn't they come out on CD until now?).

If someone can find somewhere all these 12"s can be ordering in bulk for a good price... Keep an eye open lads and lasses!

That new True Faith mix is actually at 1hr, 27 minutes into the web stream of Pete Tong's Radio 1 show at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/radio1_aod.shtml?radio1/essselection. I note it says 'London Records' in the tracklisting for the show... Maybe it is due out with 'Turn'? Not a bad mix, as a dance track - doesn't feature much in the way of vocals, however.

are these 12" being released as a set of 12 (like a bundle?) or are they gonna be 12 separate singles...because that'll be more of a pain to get hold of - I know a 12 x 12" set will cost a bomb, but buying 12 singles, which, some will be more popular in general, it is likely to be harder to track them all down....

and how's the artwork gonna look, considering these are not rerelease, will there be new art or just plain die cut disco bags??

on a kind of side issue...perhaps these 'unreleased' mixes might see their way on to a legal download site...at least we saw the Pete Heller mixes that way...

they must have been recorded digitally, and as such won't just exist on vinyl, so i'd expect to see some digital / cd quality versions somewhere...

Now I'm really bothered to obtain a turntable...

You can get a tutntable for about $75 at Tandys in Oz with a pre-amp so you can plug it straight into the PC. Probably shit quality but maybe OK for transferring the odd 7"

it wouldn't surprise me if this was only a limited dj only release. i would love to get my mittens onto these.

If they were all new mixes this would be a cool idea; as a lot of the stuff isn't new this is A CRAP IDEA!!!

...unless they are released on CD as well... although if they do that why not do a whole remix album....

looking through the various sites that have been linked to the label releasing them does have a presence on itunes so there's no reason to think these won't be available there.

Like the remix 'album'... Nice idea... but I like my hard copies and I hate fiddling around trying to burn downloaded tracks with copyright restrictions.
