Well, for me it was never a question of being in any "club" to begin with. I'm glad that there are still some sensible and prudent NO fans out there whose pulses don't automatically start racing and get sexxxed up whenever any bit of new product is thrust in front of their eyes, no matter how crummy and shoddy!

Their current discography is a mess. Ill thought out, and appallingly organised. 3 x 7", 12 x 12", umpteen CD singles (with different mixes in every country of issue).
I long for the days of the relatively simple Factory model of a 12", and maybe a 7", remix 12" or CD.
Incoherent, ill thought out, messy, sporadic, ad hoc. Urghhhhhh! What's happened to the beautiful simplicity of the band's concepts

Fair point. There have been FAR TOO FEW actual songs spread over FAR TOO MANY releases. I'll spend my hard-earned cash on other things and hope these WFTSC rejects get out this year as promised... Like fuck will they.

i'm not sure how many pressings of each single will be around, but i tend NOT to get them right when they come out...i've still been faithfully keeping up with most of the releases, even for the last 2 albums, but i get them much later at much cheaper prices, i'm sure these will be around, and the same thing will happen..
why be disgruntled now?
for me, i think things really started getting out of hand during the 'technique' era...and it hasn't gotten any better since...(or even earlier right around the 'true faith' single)...there were plenty of mixes that weren't that great even way back then.. and plenty of releases/formats also...[multiple singles/vinyl/cd/cassette]..
yes it is aggravating trying to hunt down a lot of this stuff, but sometimes the challenge is part of the fun...i'll admit i really don't like the last couple of albums or singles, but once in awhile there's a song or mix that's decent, and that makes it worthwhile....maybe i'm less of a completist collector, and don't need every single release, but i do try to get the unique tracks when i can...and if its affordable..
i really don't see much of a change in the pattern of releases lately, except for maybe more online and digital only ones..

someone mark this thread cuz in 5, maybe 10 years when new Order have retired and there aren't anymore singles coming out to fleeces the fans, i want people to look back and realize they're a bunch of whining cnuts. it's been stated before and it has to be stated again. you don't have to buy it if you don't want it! the tracks will be on soulseek less than a month after release. if that's not good enough, then buy the fukking record. we're lucky to be getting NO product at this point and there's no obligation to buy every release.
are these 12"s sold together or only seperately? if they were together with a nice box or something, i'd easily drop 100-200 bucks on it. if it's just collecting the seperate singles, i'll probably just get the ones with new mixes.

hear, frakkin hear. i think what people have to realize is that new order will not be around forever, at least putting out new music. smell the flowers while you can folks.
It shits me because everyone accepts Shep Pettibone's remix of BLT as a regular old New Order song. But would you accept Fluke's rework of Spooky as a New Order song? Probably not, you purists - even though its better than the original.
Nowadays, the remixers of old are actually producing albums, I don't need to name names. If another new act like Tocadisco or Asle or Planet Funk or Richard X wants to add some new flavor to an old New Order track, it's the same as Shep doing it in '86.
The difference is y'all just got out of the club scene and don't recognize the new names. Would I drop the orignal Blue Monday in one of my sets? HELL NO. Why should I? Hardfloor's 95 remix beats it out by a mile. Same with True Faith, I'd rather drop Phillip Steir's 2001 mix because it's got a new groove with old school flavor. I'd drop the Morel dub mixes b4 I played the 87 remix.
That's the point of these re-works. Yeah, I know we all got burned in 95 by Arman van Helden's mix and there were a couple of bad ones here and there, but aren't there a couple of bad NO tracks on 'Get Ready'?

I've got no problem at all with remixes, but I don't really see an end to them being pumped out just because the band calls it a day.
Some of the hottest white labels in recent times have been the slew of new Led Zep remixes by Dirty Funker, etc.

Dude, I am still trying to get a copy of the remix of Nirvana's 'Lithium' by Dirty Funker but with so much material on my want list, it's hard to get everything.
Maybe one day when I am doing an audit on my Nirvana collection, I will try and get a copy on Ebay.

Ditto. What gives me pause for thought is realising that looking at the listings I couldn't remember for the life of me which mixes I already had without going and looking through my cds/records. I think when it gets to that point it's already gone too far.
As a new casual vinyl listener - I would be happy if 'singles' was realeased on vinyl then I could be happy. The best of they should have done would be substance-esque - All the singles and the bsides on vinyl and cd. That would be good. The odd collection of remixes is cool of djs and stuff - but what about us? Why have a new remix of an old song with a new remix of a new song?

Dont be so ungrateful. New sleeved 12" mixes for the masses. And also 3 for a tenner at HMV... absolute bargain! All matching sleeves. I know how much the originals are/ arent worth, but new releases!!! Please pray for the joy...

they're not in the 3 for a tenner. Only 'old', non-chart vinyl is in their 3 12"s for a tenner deal. These are not. I'm going to the store and picking them up myself - no chance of the postman bending them that way and I get them the day they come out.
I have some questions about these releases I would like to know if Jacques Lu Cont Dub remix of Jetstream has already been released and where same question regarding Shellshock remixed by John Robie

just pre-ordered all 12 on the HMV website, seeing as i had a £5 discount e-voucher
can't leave these to go by - as a set, with picture sleeves, they will look ace...and most of my NO vinyl is pretty knackered, so i'm sort of replaciung it...and for £42 its not a bad deal....
i see it at least as one big box set without a box...
might make one myself :)
fingers crossed they'll release them on CD. good to see they included the hardfloor mix of BM which is easily the best remix of the mighty old warrior

As far as I know the Jacques Lu Cont Dub has not been released (unless it's the regular remix mislabelled). All versions of Shellshock were remixed by John Robie, so this will be the regular Substance version we all know and love (i.e. the edited original 12", missing verse 3).
