I tried to post this morning, but I had some trouble...
What I was going to say is that, even though I am a vinyl whore, I have to agree with Mark Reed. A lot of us still love vinyl and play it out (I own plenty of CDs but I don't DJ with them), but for the people that don't, they need a handy format. By not putting these out on CD Single, you're shutting out a lot of dedicated fans who are willing to pay money for this material.
I don't how luxurious the label's gonna get with these 12"s, if they're gonna put picture sleeves on them or do 180 gram vinyl but they ought to consider doing a run of CD Singles like the big trance labels do (Anjunabeats, Lost Language, etc) and make them available ONLY through the website. They don't have to be special, they can just have company sleeves and be issued in slipcases
But on a more important note, the tracklistings on some of these planned singles don't really do them justice. How can you pair up a new remix of 'I Told You So' (which hopefully has more f**king bass in it this time) with 'Dubvulture' and 'Shame of the Nation'?? How about pairing 'Thieves Like Us' with the worst remix of 'Jetstream'?? Songs from each era should be paired with other tracks from that same era. OR, if you were dating the tracks by when the REMIXES were done, please keep newer mixes together and the older mixes on other slabs of vinyl.
Instead of re-releasing mixes THAT HAVE ALREADY APPEARED ON VINYL AND CD, put on some older hard-to-find gems, like the Robert Racic remix of 'Paradise' or even the Sabres' Slow n' Low mix of 'Regret' (of which, my UK 12" was a HORRIBLE press) - or how about the Lionrock Fast n' Sparse mix of 'Nineteen 63'??
THESE are the mixes that will help sell these records, not boring retreads of stuff we already have. This whole idea is geared towards a niche market of New Order fans, mostly DJs and hard core fanatics.
One more thing, the label should know that it's not 'Subculture (Dubvulture Mix)' or State of the Nation (Shame of the Nation Mix)' - come on guys, we're expecting you to know the right names of the songs before you release them. Please be professional with them.
