If memory serves, which it very often doesnae...

500 created, 500 gone. I think the band and management were sent copies as well.

Given the way this place has become a virtual battleground at times, it is now bordering on parody!

Don't blame me... the name I suggested was elimated

This is quite a funny thread for someone who doesnt post very often, to see all those people who sit around here everyday talking about sheds and football and the size of their knobs sulking cos they didnt get on the cd....ha ha ha ..diddums I listened to most of the entries and voted for 8 of the top ten...ive been a fan for 25 years..bought everything New order have ever released...been to gigs etc etc but my post count is only 13 so apparently im not entitled to an opinion on which were the best songs. Well actually i am entitled and there are many other generally silent members of the "community" who are entitled too I based my votes on the quality and originality of the cover and not on whos got the biggest shed..if you dont like it tough... Why bother with a cd anyway...why not just make them available for download and charge for each track??? Also with so many Joy Division songs entered why not do a Joy Division competition..I personally thought it should have been exclusively New Order songs in this competition

I read them, it looked too much like hard work. :\ohwell:

Well, Mike (WenOrder) wanted to make sure this time the winning person knew what he was doing and would be able to do the full artwork of the album, not just a sleeve.

Last time we were lucky because Mike won, but this time he won't have the time to do the whole thing. He's not entering the competition.

Some people take this maybe a tid too seriously though.

I don't think anybody's top 10 made it, so nobody will be completly happy with the selection.

I wasn't on the first album, and I knew since day 1 some people didn't enjoy the fact that there were "outside bands" joining in, but I decided to face the music.

As so-called "producers", our goal was to deliver the best product possible with what we were given, and to help bands to get known among the New Order community.

I'm not saying the songs submitted with regular contributors to this forum wouldn't have done a great album, it's not true, but we were expecting a very difficult competition since we delivered the first one, and people knew what they were up to.

But again, this "community" is 25K members, not the 100-150 who are "regulars" in the forums. We received 104 entries, 10 were selected and those were in most people's top 20. The only people who could vote had to be registered to NOOL before Jan 1st 2006, that's was the deadline.

Once again, last time the competition brough their share of new "regulars" to this website, and I expect the same this time, it's not everybody's cup of tea to discuss about New Order 24/24h and 7/7 days, and I respect that, but one thing for sure, if they entered this competition it's because they visited this website.

All is needed to participate was good will and be a New Order fan, and again, it's the community that selected the winners, as they will select the winners for the other competitions, and I hope everybody enjoys the competition.

I respect the fact that some people don't care about this project, and despite what people think, I think Al did exactly what I asked and took a moment to vote.. so what he voted for his mates.. I did too! that's why we had 20 votes so we could spoil a few. I don't agree with all selections, but I'll live with it, and I will try my best to get my hand on a proper copy of my favorites.

I didn't care AT ALL for Tribute albums before working on Community, but this time, there is no doubt in my mind, this will be the best tribute album for New Order out there.

And once again, don't take this too seriously, it's a limited scope project from a fan site damn it... not like we're going to sell a bunchload of this, the scope will be 1000 copies this time, we are hoping to sell that much and invested our own money into this and we are very happy with the amount of participation, but it's evident that were will always be more losers than winners, that's a fact nobody can't deny.

I have latin blood in my veins, so I'm always fulled with good intentions and never see the problematic side of things.. I really wanted a double album, but let's be honest here.. minimum copies for having a real disc pressed is 500, to have a double album pressed, with prices of licensing and production, doing a double album might mean we would have to sell these 35$ each, maybe even more... this would mean less people willing to pay that much for an album like that.

Our goal is to deliver a quality product and the most affordable possible... NOOL is costing around 1200$ per year to run right now, so all income are needed now that the Amazon money is gone, that works only when the band is releasing stuff, so not anymore ;)

Anyways, as I always said, the goal is to promote new bands using New Order as the vehicule, we did great, but we could have done better ;)

I haven't bothered reading all this, but I take it some people weren't too happy then? I wasn't happy either, for what it's worth, one song I voted for got selected, one other one was a maybe, and the other eight were on my 'absolutely not' list :\ohwell: I'll still buy the cd though, as it supports the site. but to be honest, it will stay in mint condition ...

Nope, I've defo still got it.

Looked good too, shame I can't remember any of it?! :uhoh:

To clarify, Liam tried to nick it mid gig, succeeded in picking off the stage only for Will to rescue it. He then placed it behind an amp.

After the gig Al stumbled onto the stage and got two set lists.

Liam, it was a pretty pathetic dash back into the shadows after your brief 'moment'.

And other visitors to this site may have fallen somewhere in the middle as I did. DC not sure where you've gotten the authority to be using the collective 'we especially in regards to this C2 competition because unless I'm wrong- and stranger things have happened - you did not record a song or vote - so why so much to say. I did listen to the face-off rounds but have only listened to parts of a few PodCasts of those that interested me. And it made for a nice 20 minutes late at night when I could get to the computer.

The criteria for voting was what you thought deserved a place on an International CD that hopefully could bring a bit of $ to this site + in turn advertise your band. Also really have no interest in covers but because JD/ NO and some from here were involved easily gave it a listen. What I did vote toward was 1. Quality and artististic license with the tune. 2. If I thought that being on the CD could benefit the respective band/ solo project. Some bands are already successful and very polished and didn't vote for the top Swede. Or is that topless.. but on the other hand did vote for Digital's Ultraviolence FWIW even if it did sound like it was recorded on the bottom of a filled swimming pool. Not only because I love the groovy tune but because of the NOOL link. the 2.5 are pretty much NOOL related and are pretty much where my votes were.

14-K : where do I use the collective 'we'? I'm simply pointing out in my post that in a community like this everyone has their own criteria for voting or NOT voting and that each is as valid as any other. So Al's wish to see regulars/mates on there is perfectly reasonable, as is any other criterion.

You're right, I didn't vote or enter. I really have no interest in New Order covers, although I'm sure some of them are good. There's too much other music out there and too little time. I am in two bands and we considered entering, but really couldn't see the point. However, that doesn't prevent me from having an opinion about the project or posting about it. I greatly admire this community and value being a part of it. I hope I've contributed something to it over the past couple of years, but I've certainly received more than I've given - it was the nature of the community that I was commenting on, not the project itself.

sorry, my mistake. Did take your post as simply a starting point, here this thread is three days and five pages long and marvelled that it's from, what I read, as Al's reflection that none of his 10 votes made it to what is designed as a NOOL CD. Which was very similar to my voting and stance on this all.

These last few weeks there have been a few threads where a lot of opinion has been passed that goes far out of the limits of 1. Either the thread topic. and/or 2. neworderonline codes of conduct and standards that would easily get dismissed as shallow or simply laughed at for being mild but has little place here. All Peace. (Revenges' Tune).

Yep...live in peace.

I do think that these debates are kind of useful and healthy though.

Certainly, and it isn't about debating things to the nth degree or always ending in agreement. Can't understand locked threads quite frankly, for the most part either.
