I have hated watching New Order the last couple times

Well the four gigs I have attended in the last year ( OMG 1 year ago i'd never seen them, having loved them for 20 years...what a tit), have been seriously hard at times....Bournemouth and the Apollo (which nearly killed me) particularly.

And they were worth it. Standing at the back of the apollo, white as a sheet, having spent 30 mins being very sick.....but with tears streaming down my face as Barney played in a bit of TPK over the end of BM....worth it.

The amsing folks u meet are just a bonus.

Course they aren't what they were....but they still piss on everyone else.

i've only seen them four times and the first time (denver, 1989) was brilliant. the last three times have been recently (since 2001) and they were nowhere near as good, but new order still beat most bands that are out there and, given the chance, i'd see them again and again. there hasn't been a time when i haven't enjoyed myself, even if they weren't up to '80s standards.

That Liam is because "Your much too young". At the time that song blew most shit away, if you were emmersed in Acid house as i was & to hear your 'fave' band do a track of such stature was electrifying, believe me.

In someparts I agree last two times I have seen them I felt that maybe the song choice was poor. Both at the Apollo Manchester last year and the Carling Glasgow they came owt with Shadowplay. Hookys bass sound no longer suits this Classic and Barney's singing certainly doesn't suit either.

I would love to hear Age of Consent back in the set list, and a song or two off technique. Even a surprise from Movement, and Theives Like us, lonsesome tonight, etc etc. Much rather here these songs than some of the er newer material.

So glad that they do Your Silent Face, and as for Temptation thats worth cost of the ticket alone. Temptation is the New Order Live song, it's a highlight of every live show for me.

I have been seeing this band since Plato's Ballroom, Liverpool in Feb 81, and will never give up seeing them. It's just like going out to see your mates you used to hang out with, and recalling the good old days.

One of the Best gigs I attended was the Barrowlands in feb 85 I think it was, all the equipment was going wrong with songs breaking down and false starts, but the crowd were amazing that night, I have it on a quality recording, you can here a drink flung by some muppet in the Crowd hit one of Steve's Cymbals while Barney was just closing the opening segment of the melodica in Your Silent Face. He then said "Behave you B'stards, next time make sure there's something in it" Then straight away started the song "C#nt that never changes, remains a stupid Tw#t". A classic, now those were the days.

i'm agree with NOOLigan, Barney Army, mark kelly, Diamond White and Digi Mike Binoche... i have my first NO gig in a week,i've been waiting for it for so many years.. and i won´t mess it up about yo say.

i hope to tell you cool things after the concert!!

I still think it takes a very odd type of person to go to the effort to find a fan-site set up an account and log in just to winge and say I won't be going again.

It was a top night and they truly delivered the goods.

It's one of the things I've always loved about them: how they can be awful and brilliant during the same gig and sometimes during the same song! I like to contrast them with one of my other true loves, Kraftwerk. Kraftwerk are the total opposite live: immaculate, seamless precision with 0.0000000001% chance of anything fucking up technically, Hutter daring to alter a lyric or speak a profanity, the setlist never changes during a tour etc. When the Order say if they fuck up it's punk rock they're dead right and somehow it's that the idea they might be both brilliant and total shit during a gig on any given night that keeps it fresh and real for me.

Naughty chappie that I am, I found a BBC telly session they did in 84 on a site the other day. The bloke who uploaded it said they'd been in St.Austell (Cornwall) gigging the night before and were on tour so were then obliged to drive up to London to do the session. It was a bank holiday and they got stuck in a jam. As a result they arrived late and had twenty minutes to setup before they went live so the set had to be changed. Somehow they were magnificent although the frustration that some gear didn't work well and the hassle of it all came through in their performance. I've rarely seen Barney in such a foul temper.

It's never going to be as it was. They're older, they've less to prove and they've come a long way. If you feel they no longer cut it for you, don't bother going to see them. I'm sure you can find a use for the ticket money. To me they're still the business. Their uniqueness is what keeps me nuts about them!

Ps Not dissing our friends across the pond here but it's likely that not that many saw them live before True Faith enslaved MTV. If you thought they were awkward live after then, it was not a patch on what they were like before!

the answer is simple don't go to gigs. so don't keep a harping on how you no longer enjoy gigs. no point stating the same point on and on. most of us disagree with you.

I was merely stating my opinion; And as I have said, you are entitled to your opinion as much as I am to mine.(which is that I find it an odd thing to do) I do read the boards...be an even odder thing to log on and not do that

I repeat....this thread stimulated an interesting debate....that's why I posted it.....most understood it loud and clear. And the reason I joined the forum is that I have enjoyed reminiscing about the past on here with the "Old Skool" posters.

Sorry if I haven't got as many posts to my name as you, "Minx". I must try harder in future. How many do I need before you will stop calling me horrible names?

I agree with the poster who said that they're better than just about every other band out there. I didn't get a chance to see NO back in the day (though I wish I had) but the few times I've seen them they've brought the house down. People change, I can't say from experience what they were like but they're still pretty damn fine in my opinion!

and well they blew me away

they sound so much better now

but i do prefer live tracks from before my days when the equipment would break down

but when they played Ceremony they had the whole areana going even the mums but they do a poor version of she's lost control

there is no point wishing to be in some sort of musical historical nostalgia. new order have brought such a range music to us. enjoy it all, if not.. fuck off
