Tiedä tuosta. Tosin ovat nuo bändiä lähinnä olevat jäsenet epäilyttävän hiljaa.

Are you sure?.. you got into JD when you was 8?

Yup - I got into JD when I was 8 - 1980. Maybe even earlier. My brother is ten years older than me and he got me into it. I remember playing my cassette player in the garden in South Africa where we lived at the time. So, I've followed them for a lonnnnnnng time. Interestingly, there is not ONE song from any incarnation of the band that I do not like. I love the lot. JD, Electonic, NO, Revenge, Monaco, Other Two, Freebass(I'm sure). They can't fail to impress me.

At least they've gone out on top.. er,Jetstream being the final single.

Hopefully it's just another haitus...A short one. The end has to come someday, even if we used to think that the day would never come..Just not yet though,eh!

So true... But I agree with whoever said never say never with them. In fact, I'd say they'll go on recording every now and then, it's long tours they're not likely to go on any longer. A few UK dates will always be there - another award here, Tony Wilson's funeral there, yet another movie about them/Manchester....

They said it was over in 1980, 1989, 1993... New Order do what the fuck the want when the fuck they want. They'll be around for a long time yet. DJing, soundtracking, guesting/producing, 'solo'-projecting, the list is long.

Scary thread title, ahhh!

I'm not too worried about this--if anything it sounds like they want a bit of a break. Fair enough. I hope they don't really call it quits though, after finally getting a chance to see them live it'd really be crap not to have any NO concerts to look forward to. Not to mention the new tunes!

I've been to three "last ever" New Order gigs so far, so I'm sure I can manage a few more...

when i first saw this thread i thought my worst fears had finally come about. after a bit of thought i don't think that's now the case. they deserve a break and i think that's all it will be. maybe huge tours will be knocked on the head but i reckon they'll still record. it's our new order FFS!!!

Listen to you all.

I posted about this the other week after the Blackpool show and got slated.

They are finished. Yesterday's Men. They ceased to be relevant after Acid House. Technique was the last record that meant anything. Even when Republic came out they had had their best days.

Shrinking gig attendances. Flagging record sales. Mediocre records. Expanding wastelines.

The sad thing is not that they are quitting now, the sad thing is they did'nt do it 15 years ago before besmirching the memories.

This comes from a 36 year old who has been a lifelong fan.

By the time they have fallen out, then kissed and made-up,written and then recorded a new album,Barney, Steve and Hooky will be pushing 60. The most we'll get now is an official live album.

Never mind New Order, are you still firmly entrenched in rose-tinted nostalgia land when everything was just so much better "back in the day"?

You must be tearing through the Kleenex like nobody's business.

Just close your eyes and it'll be 1988 again.

:spit: Think there quite possibly could be a very slight difference between the post of an opinion of a disgruntled 36 year old grump and an actual interview given by two members of the band.... that quite possibly could explain the differences in the replies.... perhaps:nuts:

Glad that finally there is some vaguely 'official' news on this! Far too much speculation and denial flying around.

The main problem nowadays seems to be that you can't do tour dates without releasing something, but I don't know if that applies to one offs??

I can imagine them coming back with the odd gig maybe when they get bored!

It will be sad if it is finally the end, not just for the band, but all the great people I have got to meet up with because of them

Many more 'Blue Saturday's' could be in the pipeline!!

Gary wrote: What amazing speculation over an interview which has been translated from English and back again!

hey, that´s not fair and you know it. it´s true that i did translate it to english from the newspaper which is in spanish. but i could get the original recording of this interview, the journalist himself emailed me. it says what it says, period. if you like it, good. if you don´t then i´m sorry.

and about the thread title, well i didn´t mean they´d split up. it was more like "about the rumour". now that i see it yeah it could be a little over the top. i´ll change it. :thumb:

nah mate. you did well. leave it as it is. :thumb:

Well, we can only wait and see what's going to happen to our beloved band. I hope they don't quit in 2007 (particularly in Sept.) I will be 21 at that time, and to not going to a club to see NO would be tragedy for me... but if the guys part ways, then I'm fine with that too. I need some time to adjust, though...

I'm surprised that Hooky is pissed off on "Control."
