Caoimhe claims that they are only okay...that's why her drunk ass is bopping along to Face Up from Bradford '84...

my older half sister is the one that introduced me to the order...

I've got a couple of friends here that like them...

everybody else is too fucking ignorant to get it!!!

My best mate's fave band is NO, I've got the wife to warm to them; fine time is her fave, but JD is a bit too much, and I've even got the tiddywinkies ooowweeeooo-ing onto Temptation.

Most people give me a glazed look when I tell them I'm an NO fan though

Both sons and the girlfriend appreciate them but the wife doesnt.

Hi there, new member here, first post.....

My husband is a fan as well. We were both JD fans before we were NO fans. Yes, we are old.....

Not really. The day I brought home Substance, my parents heard it and made a face and said, "What's that? 80's techno?" I tried to get my sister interested in JD since she had seen Donnie Darko and liked LWTUA, but she saw the "Atmosphere" video and made a comment that Ian wasn't that great a singer! :banghead:

I have some online friends who are fans, but I think even they get tired of my fanaticism! I did get my best friend interested in some of their stuff (including JD) though.

My wife couldn't stand them when I met her 11 years ago. But I've gradually converted her over the years, culminating in seeing them live in October. It's now got to the stage where she'll turn up the volume if she hears NO/JD on the radio. She recently went to see Marie Antoinette and came home all excited cos she heard 'Ceremony' during the film, likewise during the recent episode of Trinny and Susannah.

Our kids (aged 2 and 4) are big fans too - True Faith, Fine Time and Turn are particularly popular. My wide went into labour with the eldest whilst watching 24 Hour Party People at the cinema which probably explains alot.

My brother likes 'em quite a bit, my sisters......well, they don't hate 'em as they do Einsturzende Neubauten. I know a handful of people around me who know and like 'em, though not as much as I do.

Have to accept responsibility for turning my brother into a U2 freak though, after I bought a copy of the 11 O'Clock Tick Tock single, which he heard and went crazy for.

We already had this thread a year or so ago.

My wife thinks they're all gay and can't tell them from the Pet Shop Boys. My parents didn't really think of them though they also think NO are something like the Pet Shop Boys.

Verdict: poor New Order - in the book of ignorance they found a place somewhere near the Pet Shop Boys.

ok I swiped my big sister's tape of "Substance" back in the day...I did not go off the "deep end" with NO until I discovered Joy Division while working at Tower Records back in 2002. So not really

But I do have my baby niece Lauren whom I can influence

Einsteurzende Neubauten is my husband's fave band. We went to see them in Dallas back in 1991. We were standing up front near the mosh pit and (I'm not making this up) a one-legged drunk guy was moshing, using his crutch to push off on me. I turned around and yelled at him to stop and he punched me in the face, so I grabbed his crutch and went upside his head with it. I got a round of applause, so he must not have been well-liked there. Not one of my finer moments, I'll admit.....

Nice to find other New Order fans in central Texas!

In a nutshell, yes, I am surrounded by New Order fans -- some are even more devoted than I.

That reminds me -- my mechanic found one of my New Order CD's and played it while he worked on one of my cars a while ago. I caught him in the act! :nono:

My wife enjoys NO and is a fan of music in general which especially helps since part of the house is taken up by my studio. ;) My mom enjoyed listening to some tunes here and there and would often sing along when I'd pop in NO when I still lived at home. I never talk music with my dad because it just frightens and confuses him... especially anything beyond easy listening.

Mrs Snorri can identify a handful of 'popular' NO tunes, and quite likes the Community 2 CD which has been playing a lot here recently... Plenty of friends are 'casual' fans, I can think of about half a dozen who own at least 1 NO or JD album... But apart from that noone else gives a toss... :nonono:

Mum and Dad? Not on your nelly, they're more into Russell Watson.I'll let 'em off,he's a Salford lad. Me Julie likes some of them, but she's not keen on Barney's singing. But she does come to my "neworderdiscos",to boost the attendance:evil4: Julie's daughter, she's more into Panic At The Disco, but I took her 12 year old brother on a camping trip last Summer and I had "Singles" on on the way up the M6.And he was singing along to STATE OF THE NATION!! :result:

Mates? Erm,don't know.I'll have to ask the Banshee! Oh and I've got a mate who's been on here a while ago,who went by the name of BARON VON NINJAPIG,who's into them. And his wife from Detroit

Similar tastes in music was a bonding element for my wife and I during our courtship and since then we've done a decent job of brainwashing our twin eleven year-olds. The kids like Regret, YSF, Temptation and most of WFTSC.

Nowadays we make an effort to go see some cool younger bands like Bloc Party, The Shins and Death Cab......but, sadly, it seems like most of the people around us are content to listen to the same classic rock songs over and over and over and over......

There's a NO disco?? I'd been thinking there really ought to be one--Smiths fans get the Moz discos at the Star & Garter, why not NO, since so much of their music is perfect for that kind of thing?

I have a friend who likes NO. Sadly, my parents don't understand them.

Holy crap, how did I not know about this? I just found some information online...is there another one coming up soon? (With my luck, it'll be when I'm out of the country.)

My friends like some of the dance mixes of the newer songs but they don't really "get" NO. None of my family like them at all.
