Sadly, I have found that no one around me seems to give a crap. Yeah, they may think some of the songs are cool or the band themselves are really cool, but they just don't the music. I seem to be surrounded by folk rock fans or total anti-electronic music types. It fucking sucks!!! 
BUT, I think I may be on the verge of converting a friend of mine into some of their stuff. Not so much for the technoey stuff 
, but "Sirens" and a lot of the rockier stuff.
We shall see!!! I will prevail!!
Most of my friends don't even remember New Order or whod they are. They may remember Blue Monday or Bizarre Love Triangle but that's about it. However I have got my daughter on to them and she really loves their music.
All my family are very familiar with almost the entire back catalogue. My 78 year old mother's favourite NO tune is Subculture (don't think she's translated the Manc accent for the words!). My brother's seen the band several times, as have my wife and brother-in-law.
My brother first got me into them as he owned a few of the albums; Substance 1987, Technique, Republic and the debut Electronic album. To say I've expanded on the collection a fair bit since then is probably an understatement He's also seen them live twice: Japan 2001 and Hyde Park 2005; he really enjoyed both gigs.
My oldest brother doesn't mind them but has no great interest, he's into his Bob Dylan and similar acoustic-ey singer/songwriters. Not my cup of tea as 75% of them all sound the same to me I.e. dull as fcuk.
My parents both don't mind New Order, they liked Krafty when it was played on Radio 2 last year (punk rock eh?!) and my dad wanted me to put WFTSC (the song) onto his mini-MP3 player at the time.
Probably a bad sign when your parents start dipping into your record collection 
Nope. Not one of my mates like them,hence i've never been to a nool meet up (i aint gonna come alone an expect someone to babysit me!).
Dad was always a passing fan. He had Substance, Republic and Electronic's GTM on cassette. He also bought WFTSC and Get Ready (he prefers Get Ready far more) before i did, and he went to the Peter Saville Show (he's a designer) so I've swiped his albums and also the Peter Saville Show Soundtrack
My older brother is also a fan, saw them at Glastonbury whenever they last played there (2005?). He's got most the albums up to Technique and a lot of other singles and stuff on his iTunes. He often covers Temptation with his mates and he's got a melodica like Barney.
I do find it quite difficult to get into conversations with them about NO cos i've always seen it as my thing, and i'm not used to talking to anyone about NO (except on here obviously

My younger brother is a big fan of New Order.We shared a bedroom as kids,so he had little choice...Funny thing was it rubbed off alot on his mates,who are all 29/30 now and love The Order...Mind,my two bestmates who are the same age as myself are big musos in general,love select tracks form New Order.Such as YSF,Temptation,Ceremony.

Thanks to him and Lorraine, we've done shitloads. My missus has done 4 gigs and whilst not being the biggest fan, she enjoys the music. Our John has also been to a gig, though he only lasted 3 songs before getting chucked out in Liverpool! Cousins Eddie and Steve have also done a handful of gigs and my mate Malky has also seen em, Baldrick my faithful manservant must be near double figures as well, I got loads more of my mates into them as well. My mam came to see them with us in Glasgow and my dad likes them an all, his favourite is AIIWIW. Between us The Corby Order have done 100 gigs or more.

I'm trying to get my g/f into it, she likes the 87-93 era best, haven't gone there yet w/ GR & WFTSC, but she finds Shellshock and SOTN too "busy" and "noisy", can give her a headache, rightfully so!
Kind of bittersweet, cuz my ex was (and still is) a huge fan, mostly due to my efforts...

My Mrs saw them at Brixton in 01 and had a lovely time. Once complained that we needed 'more Barney' when I had a CD of instrumentals on in the car. Other than that, she's not really fussed.

I asked my father if he had ever heard of Joy Division and he said he hadn't heard of them....well, he was in his early 20's in the late 70's...nah, he and my mom have never heard of New Order either....My bf likes New Order, I was playing the singles CD the other day and he was moving along to it...:)
Yep, i would have to say nearly to the point of almost everyone i know , know and/or have been to New Order gigs.
My parents would be familiar with them from all the posters in myself and my brothers room whilst growing up.
All my friends have seen them live, be it at Hyde Park or in little ole' Adelaide @ the Big Day out, and at a club in Adelaide formerly called Le Rox in the late 80's.
The New Order is all around me.
My gf likes Electronic slightly better than New Order. Doesn't care much for Joy Division. After living together for a few months now, she's grown thoroughly sick of New Order and asks me constantly if I ever get tired of hearing the same songs over and over. I say usually yes, belt her on the jaw for talking out of turn, and switch out Movement for Low-Life.
Thankfully, no. Otherwise I'd have to share them. If my sister started taking my New Order CD's, I'd have to cut her. *smile*
took sister janet to first order gig at ritz in 81,, wifes ,first date with me was to brighton 86,, kids want to go so hopefully they will do pompey,,mum always asks "is love still tearing you apart?" ( she ,s 83.)
mates came with me to j.d in 79 though they stayed in bar ,,,so no they dont like the order.
theres many more chestnuts in the old chestnut tree.
It was a very good friend of mine that got me back into New Order back in April. She is a very big NO fan and stuff, so she was the one that got me back listening to them.
We end up talking about them and other similar bands from the 80's.

In high school I dated a girl who loved NO, EatB, Violent Femmes, OMD et al. A peach, she was.
my dear wife attendeth all gigs of the order that i do, otherwise we wouldnt be married. she has LWTUA for her truetone phone. mine's ceremony.
most of my uni friends had similar musical taste, but time and friends move on

as for my family: i'm an only child so it's just my parents. my mother likes johnny mattress and my dad likes classical.
most of my friends can tolerate New Order reasonably well. I encourage this by a steady supply of cds and dvs. My mum said she couldn't stand them, but she's had many years of exposure and would always tell me when she heard BLT on the radio. Her line about Barney always was that he was still practicing his singing.

Thats really sad. But to each his own, I guess.
I tend to like music of all kinds of genres. I cant just stick with one genre. My mentality just doesnt work that way. Its like I have musical ADHD. I like a mix of everything. Some people I know have been shocked that I actually like New Order, PSB, etc and am also a fan of other stuff like Coldplay or the Lost Prophets.
So, I never really understood those that stick with just a certain type of music and thats it. LOL. Sounds asinine, but its true.
My parents dont really care for the Order. My mom thinks they're funny guys and likes "Temptation" and "BLT" a lot, but I think thats about it. My dad hates that sort of music and doesnt get it. He's more into 60s and 70s stuff. My friends could care less, but some are getting into some of their other music, like I said. I have a friend from work that is nuts about the Beatles, U2, and The Who. So I lent them some mixes of some various dance music I have. Depeche, NO, Electronic, PSB, Erasure, etc., and they just didn't get it. Which kind of shocked me for they are somewhat a big fan of U2's "Pop" album, which is pretty 'dancey', and sometimes NO can have a Beatlesy playful thing about them, like "Run" for example.
Hell, I'd rather listen to all the bands I mentioned than her bands to be honest. LOL.

LOL!! In a sense its fun, having it all to yourself. But it does get kinda sad when you dont have anyone to share it with other than online. :(

Yeah, I have noticed more people will be into Electronic (or Monaco) more than NO or JD. I guess NO and JD are just too complicated and on a totally different level, and less mainstream. I call that mob-mentality, or modern day MTV mind conditioning! :p :evil: 
the girlfriend likes new order. she listens to aoc alot when i'm not around. she didn't like fine time too much at first, but i played it until she understood...
my brother took years to figure out new order. he was all into aphex twin, autechre-style techno and the jesus and mary chain stuff, but couldn't come around to new order. but then one night, about 3 in the morning, on a school night, he bursts into my room, headphones hanging unattached to anything, screaming "perfect kiss is fucking genius!" i said, "i know, fuck off."
plenty of my friends like new order. pretty much because they have to. in order to be my friend.
my roommate is being a hardcase. he loves temptaion and ceremony, but doesn't like the dancy stuff so much. meh. his loss.
I was until I met my wife a nominal fan (loved what I heard on radio, but didn't know much). My wife is a huge fan, and the way I am, I learnt what I could, and now I'm beginning to be a true fan. (I can obsess a little over music...helps that I work in radio).
It's gotten to the stage I'm teaching my wife more about NO. However, she introduced me to JD, Electronic, Monaco etc.
It's a great thing to be married to someone with similar music tastes!!
wife - absolutely not.
3 year old son - surprisingly yes. he's fallen in love w/ PC&L. at first, it was his "#3 song", The Village. now he's moved on to his "#1 song", AOC, and listens to the entire record, all the while clapping and dancing around our bedroom.
