My Bloody Valentine, incidentally, were often regarded as one of the first bands to really put the HURTS into kilohertz. :D
Anyway - I still can't remember to this day exactly what did happen to the lead singer of Air Supply after he held that note for so fooking long.....maybe his backside split from the rest of him and launched a solo career of its own....who knows? But tellingly, no sign or whimper was ever heard from them again after that record.
Perhaps we should be thankful then..... ;)

as for the Air Supply prat, regardless of whether he was ever heard from again after that, i still think that the most suitable punishment for his crimes against humanity would be for him to be locked in room, chained to a chair, and forced to listen to Eric Carmen's "All By Myself" for 399 hours STRAIGHT. no breaks. on continuous loop.

and that's a double bill i would've killed to see, i think. Valentines and J*A*M*C? *drools*
i DID manage to see the J*A*M*C at one point, though. was an alright show...not brilliant. don't recall who they played with. only recall that we were lucky, as they seem to have had a habit of touring with stuff from the album just previous to whichever one had been released in time for their tour of the moment...
...so we ended up with stuff from Honey's Dead. 
which was really the last good thing (IMHO) they did...and i really did like that album a lot. 
...which makes me wonder if they ever toured here after Phil King went and joined them on bass...? would've been very strange to see him onstage with them...

Before I try and return in vain to the original subject matter of this thread (there's the small matter of a trivia teaser to be getting on with!!!! :D ), I'll just say that did you know Jim Reid of The JAMC has started up a new band with fellow Mary Chainers Ben Lurie and Nick Sanderson (together with a new female member) called Freeheat? They've already had a single released not too far back. But as yet I ain't heard any of their stuff.... have you??? ;)

Phil King was indeed Lush's bassist for awhile, but after Lush disbanded, he went on tour with the Jesus and Mary Chain for awhile. dunno if he did any recordings with them, though. i didn't get anything past Honey's Dead-era.
No, he didn't actually - the Mary Chain demise was indeed a messy affair - but people ceased caring by that point. Their final album "Munki" is actually quite good in an underrated ignored sort of way. Ironically their last ever record was also their first ever album for Creation Records - isn't that bizarre?
Freeheat's only release to date is a five track EP called "Retox". That's about as much as I know at the moment!! ;)

yeah, i really did stop caring after a point. i think a lot of it had to do with really hating Stoned and Dethroned. my sister bought it. and the Hope Sandoval factor ruined things for me, too. in fact, i'm not entirely sure what happened towards the end. some fan i am, eh?
think i'll have to dig up my Mary Chain records next...Psychocandy, Automatic...here we come... :D

There's nothing wrong with "Stoned and Dethroned"!!! I like it! It's another side to the Mary Chain sound, more laid back, that's all!!... and Hope Sandoval's old band Mazzy Star were responsible for some of my all time fave "swooning" songs - like "Fade Into You" , "Blue Light", the whole of the "She Hangs Brightly" album, etc etc.... ;)
I take it you're not a Mazzy Star admirer then??
I'm about to start getting on with making a new CD compilation of Moonshake stuff any day now - it's based on collecting all their early EP tracks and some LP tracks together under the overall title "Too Many Crooks" and I'm going to remix a few of the tracks as well as they're too short!! More later! ;)

Marty...perhaps i'll give it another try. at the time, though...i really didn't care much for S&D. who knows, though...timing's always more crucial than i might like to give it credit for! ;)
as for Mazzy Star...no, never really was a fan. i think it had to do with massive overexposure on that front here, as well...it seemed for awhile like you couldn't go ANYWHERE without hearing "Fade Into You," and it just got to be extremely annoying after awhile. my sister was very into them, and i know she'd played She Hangs Brightly around me at least a few times, but i can't say that it made a very big impression on me. something about Hope's voice i don't particularly care for. (which is rather odd if you think about it, cos there's plenty of people whose voices i don't have problems with that many would find annoying. 
)
Moonshake's another band where i really do need to go and get the things i missed out on the first time around. all i have is Eva Luna. must remedy this situation. :D
and out of curiosity...have you heard any Sing-Sing? and if so, what do you think...? :)

By the way, just intrigued, but who's this Moonshake band that gets mentioned every so often here ....what are they like? Where do they come from?? Are they like the Valentines or Husker Du or what? Any answers?
Props to David Roback of Mazzy Star for his talent. About the only thing the Rain Parade needed was a better singer, and Hope is an improvement over what they had.
