I'm with you on that John, it's just that relative to their status and their circumstances their output is quality, and given that the Stones and Pink Floyd have similar cult/legend status I feel that they offer some kind of a benchmark to compare to, with New Order leaving them standing at this point in their career, compared to those two when they were in their late 40s/early 50s. They could sit on their arses and get someone else to write their lyrics like Pink Floyd but to some extent they're still challenging themselves, and getting someone like Stuart Price to produce tracks is definitely the way forward. I'd quite like them to work with someone young and fairly unknown to see in which direction that would take them; I saw an Ian Brown documentary recently and the fella he worked with on Music From The Spheres would be good.
Sirens anyone?

I have faith that the musicians that once played on an album known as Closer, or created the masterpiece Low Life can put out a better record than the bogussness called Sirens. Jetstream???give me a break..
Myself, I wish that they'd work hard next time and produce most of their music. Some of my favourite NO songs were produced by New Order alone. Only on rare occasions with Martin Hannet and Stepehn Hague that they produced some amazing results. I also don't like guest artists in any form and please no female background singers. Jetstream is one of my least liked NO song and just look at the credits; written by NO, A. Lynch, S. Price, produced by S. Price and NO, mixed by Jeremy Wheathly and featuring Ana Matronic. Wow, do you see all those people involved? Some of the best songs like Temptation, The Perfect Kiss, Bizarre Love Triangle, etc. were all written and produced by NO and no one else. The band is full of creative talent, at least they used to and I'm sure that they still have some in them. Even with diminish creative ideas, it's still better than the other talents. The more NO the better.
Im sorry about the 29 posts. My computer was acting really fucked up and I thought it only posted once.
WFTSC is great though. Just listened to it this week, again.
I think New Order with BALLS at 50 years old makes audio gems like Behind Closed Doors. I f'n love that song. I can only dream of an entire album with songs like that made by 50 year olds with balls.
