Sorry if this has been done before but I can't find a thread in the browser...

Obviously we all love NewOrder and have been amazed and astounded by their music and development over 25+ years of making bang up tunes. But I wondered if anyone else felt, like me that, just a few too many tunes got the reverential treatment?

Here's a few of my teeth-grinders to get started:

Blue Monday Bizarre Love Triangle Love Vigilantes The Perfect Kiss Face-Up Touched by the hand of God (Possibly the worst song ever committed to vinyl) 60 Miles an Hour and the rest of Get Ready that isn't Crystal...

:scream:

I'm just about to find myself an deep bunker and hide...

True Faith. Bizarre Love Triangle (12") Technique.

That is all. Fact. End of.

Er, I don't think anyone has EVER been 'reverential' about 60MPH!!??!!

El Jarvo... The whole of Technique is over-rated? Surely not? You gotta love all those sheep samples on Fine Time

You two want yer heids tested

LV, BLT, TF, Technique?

Everyone's entitled to their opinions, but fcuk me over the bonce with a big stick and call me Melanie if you two have any taste :viking:

Doctor Clayhead... Fair point, I was beginning to struggle for over-rated stuff :)

60mph is a good single. Not great, but good when it's blasting out the speakers in our local

Technique (as a concept) is vastly over-rated. The New Order album for people who don't like New Order.

I'll give you the sheep though. Fine Time is the standout track for me, and that bassline at the death, competing with the sheep, is one of the best things Hooky's ever done.

amongst the casual- Blue Monday

I've always thought that Confusion was overrated as well.

ShugZV forgot about WIM. Thanks for the reminder

And I'm down the shrink clinic later for a wee heid test. I think he's going to hold up NO 12" covers and ask me to give a simple Yes/No answer. But that cover to Blue Monday will have me quaking in the corner

I'm just waiting for Timbo to make his contribution here and dismiss 50% of everything they've ever done as complete shite.

I do sometimes wonder if the Old Monkey actually likes New Order.....

Always loved NewOrder and can't help thinking that this is one of their better ones

Blue Monday - Not as good as Temptation but gets twenty times the recognition.

Bizarre Love Triangle 12" - A solid fan favourite? Prefer the shorter mixes meself.

Here To Stay - Hyped collaboration that didn't come to much (the yanks seem to lurve it).

World In Motion - :uhoh: Pish.

Thankfully, doesn't everyone just think it's basically shite?

Which, in itself, is probably being too kind. :evil4:

:evil4:

Most of the stuff they've done isn't rated enough by the majority of people, certainly not commercially.

Sure, there is stuff I don't much care for, but not stuff I think is over-rated. I only care about my own ratings of stuff, so what anyone else thinks of as over-rated is pretty much irrelevant to me!

That's very diplomatic, Timbo!

So I say: SUNRISE.

It's vacuous, sub-Cure rip-off tripe for sweaty boys who really just need to have a wank.

There. I've said it.

Dare I say Temptation?

Having said that I would listen to anything of theirs before other bands

Weeellll, we need a lil' bit of controversy around here!

It's also music for lads with small dicks! :uhoh:

100% in agreement. Give me the old ARP Quadra ticking that arpeggiator out anyday... :thumb:

Substance versions of Temptation and Confusion are pretty poor too

I dunno, I'm rather inclined to agree with Jarvo. A load of fuss is always made about Technique as being the pinnacle, but at least half of it is filler and it really hasn't aged well. It's the only one they used synth and drum sounds on that sound really dated now, and I think their own thoughts on the record can be gauged by the fact they dropped everything off it in 1993 (most of it didn't survive the 89 tour) besides playing the only one they hadn't done live before at a couple of 98 shows.
