Reading the article, I don't think Hooky has blamed Bernard & Steve; it's obviously a tricky situation about which they all seem on edge and they're 51 years old for fucks sake, not youngsters keen to break new ground. Who cares if Bernard is lazy; I remember reading an article or seeing an interview (think it was with one of the Chemical Brothers) which said he works really intensely for a few months then stops for the rest of the year, someone of his status has earned the right to work that way as far as I'm concerned. Now it's over I hope he gets the job in the wood yard that he wanted! As much as I love the last two albums, I hope it is the end, I don't want an official announcement, I'd rather they just do what they're doing and resurface occasionally. Seeing AHW ill has really strengthened my feeling on this for some weird reason.

I agree with this. Also, I have been browsing Peter Hook's Myspace page and he is very complimentary about Bernard.

However, I'm not liking the amount of antiHookyism going on hereabouts. A bit of faith or loyalty or something seems owed to a chap who's never once dissappointed when he's picked up a bass for the thick end of 30 years.
And your maj, I think it's more likely he realised he'd be pissing into the wind.
See very little 'anti-Hooky' sentiment, more like raised eyebrows. I mean, barely a week goes by without someone slagging Bernard, whatever he's doing or not doing. They're both wonderfully talented, and as a musician I value both. It's too bad that fans on these boards are moving to take sides; all a bit infantile and discouraging.
Perhaps too strong a word, maybe I could have put it better. There does seem to be a lot of "it's in an article, it must be true". This is New Order FFS, has anyone ever read a 100% accurate article on them...ever? (gig reviews proclaiming them as rock gods or fucked sods do not count)
Anyway, the man treats his band's fans better than some people treat their mates, so nobody should jump to judge him swiftly and harshly, and not feel a prat.
I LOVE slagging Bernard off (though my main beef will always be replacing Gillian with a glorified tape deck because the keys were the weakest link, when that is clearly horse shite), but he IS a bloody genius, a proper one, that's why he seems a twat, the rest of the world just hard to cope with when you're like that. And though he fucks up all over the place, he is one funky FUCKER when he hooks it up.
Must confess though that when I first heard of the breakup, I instantly thought "FFS Barney, sort yerself out!" oooops.
For me New Order were never really the same after they got back together anyway...was there at Reading 98 and it was perfect, amazing, almost religious. And I wouldn't blame any of them for wanting to keep that going but I really think Get Ready and WFTSC were pretty crap compared to the old stuff, and Republic was hardly a classic was it? TBH seeing fucking Anamatronix or whatever her name is with NO at glastonbury made me feel that they should just end it. Its for the best. I don't think Temptation 2015 would be much different and the new stuff that surrounded it could be even more cringe-worthy than seeing Barney dance around with a fag-hag, especially if he has a zimmer by then.
I think this stuff is bad news. Actually it's only Hooky being quoted on 'the split' (if there was one) as the others have stayed silent. I personally could do with a bit of balance on this story i.e something fairly comprehensive from Barney. Seeing as he's got this book coming out - or rather a book about him - soon, how about it, Barn?
Is Hooky being misquoted here or are the sites actually quoting him verbatim? If Hooky is certain that he will not work again with Barney and Steve, then you can be pretty sure that's it as the bloke's irreplaceable as far as the Order are concerned. That's how the Order worked: each of the members was a unique musician and therefore replacing them - no offence to either Gillian and Phil - is impossible.
Will there be a final release and if so what will it be? A round-up double CD comprising out-takes as well as the songs recorded after WFTSC together with a disc of their final performance would be superb.
Taking sides achieves nothing. I'm sad it's over but, if they've decided that's it, that's it.
Peace!!

That's so true. Barney gets trashed all the time. When I first visited this forum, I thought that New Order fans wanted to boot Barney out of the band so much I read negative things about him.
I dont know what to think/believe about any of this split anymore
With new order, I have learned to just take things as they come
Yes they are my favourite band and want them to stay together but if they want to split then so be it
I will support any side projects by ANY members of new order anyway
I either want a true reconciliation or the end. Not asking for much am I?! ~:)
He's disengenuous when he says "it doesn't really matter" - of course IT FUCKING MATTERS! It's been your life, for Christ's sake! It's the thing you care about more than anything. Maybe the interest among you isn't what it was so, if that's the case, you should agree to call time because there isn't anything worse than just plodding along for the money. If you no longer love it, stop.
just poppin the toilet for my third wank of the day. let us know if they get back together AGAIN while i'm gone.
Why don't they blame the one man who is actually responsible for this...
Ian Curtis, you have so much to answer for...
