WOOOOAH there, wrong end of stick.

I was refering ONLY to Bernard's historical downright histility towards Wilson.

My comment was actually intended to convey a genuine desire not to end up hating him.

I don't think this is the right place to have this discussion.

We all end up grieving in our own personal ways.

Nobody is right or wrong, we all have our reasons and ways and lets remember we are all humans. With hindsight we would all behave impeccably and do the right thing.

Thanks Tony, if you hadn't been the person you were we wouldn't have had Joy Division or New Order.

Lets focus on the positives!

R.I.P.

I was very sorry to hear this. There isn't anything I can add that hasn't already been said. RIP Tony.

Maybe he's on holiday like (or so it seems) the rest of the population?

(From someone who's at work and can't get hold of anyone to ask certain questions - answer, they're on a 3 week holiday... Bastards!) :smoking:

I remember first seeing Tony on Granada Reports when I was growing up - the epitomy of cool and proper Manchester soul man. He brought great music to the masses and influenced so many people - a rare combination of talent and twat rolled into an amazingly refreshing individual who gave so much from his love of music.

RIP Tony - you will be missed and never equalled. I shed a tear - does not happen too often to me, and if any of the boys are reading - play a final gig so we can celebrate JD , NO , Mondays, etc and Tony, pleaaaaaase.

BEFORE AHW died, there are quotes from Barney saying how much he likes/respects Mr Wilson. Let it go - arguing about something like this is silly. Cheers lads

More condolences from famous people: From the Pet Shop Boys' official site

'Chris Lowe and Neil Tennant are very sad to hear of the death of Tony Wilson, the founder of Factory Records. They would like to express their condolences to his friends and family and the members of New Order. Neil and Chris got to know Tony when they became involved with Electronic in 1989. He will be much missed in Manchester and music and beyond.' Source: http://www.petshopboys.co.uk/

So sad to hear of your passing. Like so many people I never met you, but the depth of your personality and passion still communicated itself to me in waves. Thankyou for the legacy you have left to the world. Your vision irrevocably shaped my teenage years and beyond.

I paste this message from the Durutti Column mailing list, it's a kind of relief:

Hello,

Vini is I better health now thanks and whilst he is obviously saddened by Tony¹s passing he seemed to be more reflective than morose regarding it when I spoke to him in the week. He has been asked to be a pall-bearer by the family too.

I know he saw him on the day he died and he told me that Tony Wilson was in good spirits to the end he was surely dogged enough for us all to appreciate that.

What a man it is hard to quantify what he has achieved or been the catalyst for.

Phil kooky cleaver ( no me neither)

Somehow I missed this news- It didn't make the press here in NYC. What can say about Tony Wilson? Without the bands that he gave creative freedom to, my teens would have really, really sucked. Blessed are those whose folly brings joy to the rest of the world.

Tony, what you discovered and created changed my musical life, thank you.

RIP and keep on having 24-hour parties in God's own Factory...
