NEW ORDER (UK)
Legendary and progressive
New Order is living proof that it is quite possible to be a legendary band in its 40s and still create young, progressive and very catchy rock. New Order arose from the ashes of the mid-eighties icon Joy Division and has turned out hit after hit ever since. They had a major comeback in the autumn of 2001, after an eight-year hiatus with a new album that showed a band almost frighteningly better than ever. The close kinship with Primal Scream and the young, misfits of rock has become more obvious, although their sound is unmistakeably their own, with lead singer Brian Sumner's light vocals and gushing guitar sounds in front and New Order's characteristic sliding bass, machine-driven drums and dreamy keyboards to back him up. Rest assured that this concert will skirt the shores of grandiose 1980s electronic melancholy, with tracks such as the classic Blue Monday, and progressive noise rock as heard on the new catchy and dynamic hit Crystal.
