This is from the advert on the home page on NOOL:
"The re-issues are double Disc Collectors editions. Each disc features both the album remastered from the original master tapes and, a bonus disc containing non album singles, B sides and remixes."
It's ok, I understand now. Just the albums are being remastered, not the singles, B sides and remixes. I'm glad i noticed that, or else i would think the band a bunch of sellouts...
Having us look for the truth in fine print is very capitalist, and I always thought NO were made out of different clay than most bands.
hmmm...
the 7" and 12" versions of temptation..on the bonus, will they sound ok?
'movement' is one of the few discs that sounds good in both parts so far..
let's see how this comes out ..

Yes, but that was the re-recorded version (i.e. the one with Gillian), not the original version that was recorded in New York minus Gillian...
On Singles, the original version had the left & right stereo channels reversed...
Thanks for educating me about the Ceremony versions. I actually have the original version on vinyl. I really hope that the left and right channels are correct on it; perhaps this is true by definition if this is the basis for comparison.
Hi - I haven't been on the site for yeeeears but I'm afraid I'm coming back with a whinge (that I can't see mentioned elsewhere). Got home today to find the first NO reissue sitting on the doormat - Technique. Fantastic.
I quickly fire it up with the bonus disc, skip through to the 12" Version of Round and Round and . . . it's full of clicks during the first 30 seconds or so.
I thought it might be an ironic statement at first: it really sounds as if it is the 12" vinyl version.
Anybody else experience the same thing?

What's sad is that of the five or six tracks on these bonus discs which have never been released on compact disc, this isn't one of them. Round & Round had it's own CD single release with multiple versions of it. Having the track remastered from it's digital source like they did with most the tracks on RETRO would have been more acceptable than this.

Yep - totally agree. I have all the R&R CD Singles (I think) and it would have been great to have a proper back to the source remaster. What a wasted opportunity and I'm not holding my breath waiting for corrected copies. Interestingly Ariola remasters of the Japan back catalogue were issued in 2004(ish) and they were full of mistakes. They bit the bullet and corrected everything. Can you imagine London doing the same?
Today I received SACDs of the MFSL remastered Pixies albums Doolittle & Surfer Rosa. Now THAT'S the way to remaster.

There is a difference between remastered and digitized. The bonus tracks are the latter. They were not taken from source tapes and carefully mixed to bring them up to a standard much higher than at the time they were originally released, adding clarity and warmth.
Someone just put the records on a turntable, recorded the output, and dumped on them on the bonus discs without any clean-up or editing whatsoever.

Careful about using "mixing" when talking about mastering. Loads of people get the two confused. Were any of the re-issues taken back to the multi-track stage or simply polished up from the stereo mix?(or not polished up in the case of the bonus material) I haven't been keeping up with it all so it's a sincere question. :D

By "source tapes" I meant going back to the 2-track master, not the multi-track. :)

It IS! And I have it ... it's released by Warners/Qwest back in the nineties. However, the title I Don't Care is in fact Bizarre Dub Triangle, but even London records don't care about the right ones. :D

I don't know I've never seen a CD single of BLT.
BTW I've just received the remaster of Lowlife I played perfect kiss and subculture form the bonus disc and compared it with my cd copy of Substance it sounds a lot louder and clearer to me if it isn't remastered they heve certainly improved the sound somehow

Yes, I've always wondered why it was called "I Don't Care"? Although it seems as though Q-West didn't like the UK "Dub" naming conventions (e.g. True Dub = "True Faith (Alternate Faith Dub)")?

I now have PCL Lowlife and Brotherhood. The other two are on the way.
One disappointment so far for me is on the bonus disc with Brotherhood. the version of 'True Dub' I was expecting the flipside of the Shep Pettibone remix
Instead we get a nondescript dance mix which bares no relation to 'True Faith' except for a sampled line "I feel so extraordinary" repeated over and over.
These aren't out yet in the US, but I have a hard time thinking that Rhino (in the US) would release them with such glaring defects. Could it be the delayed US release was to fix things up?
Do the credits for the re-issues indicate who did the remastering?
