The True Faith mix? It'll sound like a dance fashion mix - a sound that was in, in the more commercial clubs back in the 90s and mixed by that electronic pioneer Tall Paul. Urghhhhhh.

I listened to that Biff and Memphis mix of TBTHOG recently and was appalled at how dated and naff it sounds. Pure underground electronic dance music still sounds good now, whereas these fashionable house mixes go out of fashion after 5mins. And one final time - why include it on this package - why not a TWA or Morel mix - they're just as bad!

I actually prefer the 87 versions of Confusion and Temptation - a remastered Substance would have sorted this shit out

have you not heard it yet? i have it, and it's a lot better than 90% of the mixes that new order have done since then..

a lot of new order mixes sound dated, so really, it wouldn't have made a difference which mix they picked..

the point i thought was to sample new order releases, and actually put rare, and sometimes unreleased material on there..

this track fits the bill exactly.. as its both rare, and unreleased..

I agree with this 100%. These remixes are so unnecessary and have dated badly.

well the promos for 'pcl' and 'low-life'

have shown :

blue monday -> still missing intro beats confusion (alt mix) -> confusion (inst)

the perfect kiss -> full 12" version subculture/dubvulture -> full 12" versions shellshock -> short 6 min version state of the nation -> not 'shame' on the promo

Apparently, what is shown on the tracklisting (e.g. Mesh or True Dub) will be reflected on the releases...

Argh! Now this website lists Shame of the Nation on the bonus disc of Low-Life, yet the promos and one of the reviews state that it's State of Nation.

CONFUSION!

"MTO", at least from the sample from Juno, is the "MTO (Minus Mix)". I'm sure many will be hearbroken (or not) by the absence of the main "MTO", but the minus mix is much more listenable and acid housey, if cliche. Hell, I would have filled up the whole disc with a few more mixes, but who asked.

"Run 2" appears to be the 12", at least good to finally have that on CD.

Juno seems to have omitted the "World in Motion" track. Their mistake I assume.

Do you ever do anything else except moan about stuff. I have read a lot of your posts about stuff being missing from releases mostly promo mixes you go on about. Promo mixes were never released commercially and there is usually a good reason for that because the stuff on them aren't good enough to be on the final product. And refusing to buy something because the cover looks a bit different what the fuck is that about. You would moan about moaning.:\ohwell:

2. in case you didn't notice, there are PROMO mixes on these 'new order' remaster bonus discs !! shock, gasp, horror, how did that happen? and several other groups release them also : see abc, psb, cabaret voltaire, etc....

all i'm saying is that i yet to see a group actually do a decent job in releasing something comprehensive, unless they only have a few songs (arcadia, power station, early erasure, simple minds, etc)..

the happy mondays have way too much material, and will never be able to release something to cover all of it completely and correctly...

On the french promo, track 2 is the orginal single version of Tempation, and track 12 is the original twelve inch mix.

Let's face it no band is going to have their complete back catalogue reissued by that i mean every mix or edit or promo because the record companies wouldn't want to do that as then they would have exhausted making any more money on a certain band. Just think how many bands albums have been reissued numerous times two examples are Tears For Fears and ABC and lot's more no doubt. One thing i will say though is by the sounds of things no other band seems to fuck up their reissues as much as NO does. I bought those 808 State remasters and they are superb yes ok not everything is on them but the remastering is sublime.

i agree with you neil, its hard for us collectors..

and 'new order' has the difficult distinction of being cursed with multiple releases, different regions, and lots of promos... so no one will ever be really happy with their output...

the only real attempts i've seen at this point are the ultimate collections for depeche mode, and u2 on iTunes that were very costly..

i'm not sure if they're even around anymore... and the reluctance of collectors to spend that kind of money on a lossy digital collection...

maybe if the tracks were lossless, it might be worth it...

i also agree about the 808 state tracks, but since most of those were digitally recorded, its wasn't that big of a difference to me, but getting the other tracks was worthwhile..

For a good idea of what's actually on the second disc, I went to the iTunes UK Store and did a search on Movement.

Here's what appeared as the contents of the second disc:

P.S. This is hilarious. Cries & Whispers and Mesh are STILL mislabeled in the Amazon Deutschland sampler, i.e. the song names are reversed. I wonder if the iTunes listing is actually correct in this respect. It's not quite as bad as the omission of the hidden live 24 Hours in the JD Still reissue, since both songs are actually there, but it looks like it's just one of those things the record companies are never going to get right.

Yes, 7" mix. But my mistake; its a 10 tracks CD, temptation 12" mix being the tenth

Thanks bc2323 for your timely reply. The track listing which you posted appears to mirror what I found on iTunes UK and Amazon Deutschland. However, I'm willing to bet that Cries & Whispers and Mesh are mislabeled everywhere. The track times listed on iTunes UK confirm that they didn't get it right.

Judging by the preview on iTunes UK, the left and right channels in the original Ceremony are still reversed (as they were on 'Singles')...

I know people at Warner. Will talk with them about it. Not sure they will see the point anyway
