One thing I forgot to mention.

When listening back to the AAC file of Dead Souls I noticed some distortion in Bernard's guitar line at those points where he goes up high on the neck (first time at :49). I thought it may have been the conversion process, or that the FLAC file had a mastering flaw. I asked our friend who is doing the mastering and he pointed out that it's always been there.

Sure enough, I went back to my Factory LP copies of Still and Substance, along with all the subsequent CD issues. It would appear that Martin Hannett recorded the guitar a little too hot, and it's part of the master recording. I'd never noticed before.

That's how good these remasters sound. ;)

I saw that Japan Joy Divisision box on Ebay almost a year ago, and it was very pricey.............about 350.00 if my memory serves correct.......

Dear Mr 50 Cent and Mr Bruno and anyone else who has had ANYTHING to do with these Artefacts of Perfection!

Thank you very very very much They Are Wonderful!

I am no audio expert, and when I purchased the re-masters I was just excited about hearing stuff like the full Perfect Kiss etc on my iPod instead of my clunky old vinylPod, so I didn't really notice the shoddy quality of the transfers.

However you sirs have really opened my ears to just how GOOD digital transfers can be with a lot of care, attention, and most of all LOVE!

I have NEVER heard New Order sound so FANTASTIC before, other than live of course!-;-)

And as for MP3 pah! Its AAC 256kbs All the Way for me from now on!!

As for the whingers, well I'm a New Order fanatic, Pet Shop Boys fanatic, Doctor Who fanatic, and Liverpool FC supporter, and the one thing I've noticed about all four of these tribes, especially in online forums, is that they (we?) just LOVE to whinge and whine when something just isn't 100% their way, whether its Rafas zonal marking, RTD's latest script, or Recycle missing a 2.53 edit of World in Motion... that got played on Radio 1 once back in 1990.

(the rest of) Us LOVE and APPRECIATE what you are doing here, and can only hope that one day London/Rhino/Elephant/whoever the fuck New Order are with These Days take your work, pay you handsomely for it and release it in the style of Palatine with reproduction artwork, or your own Gretton influenced Masterpiece of Art & Design that the Great Man himself would have been proud of!

Thank you! :-)

Brillant work.................., it's an amazing thing you guys are doing. Can't wait to so what rarities you have in store for us all at the end...Thank you, and keep it coming..........cheers

P.S. Let hope this forces London Records to come out with quality Joy Division releases in the furture, instead of half-ass releases that don't hold their weight; like a vinyl box-set of the singles....lol

About the track 'As You Said':

To quote you, you said:

'As You Said, a track that could be as much a Hannett composition as a Curtis/Hook/Morris/Sumner one for all the crazy effects on the track, was taken from the box set because that's the only digital version not sourced from scratchy flexi plastic.'

I wonder if that's the only non-vinyl version, because my Warsaw-CD from 1994 (Movie Play Gold, MPG 74034) has the track (number 12) in pristine condition. For me ,it doesn't sound as if it's from vynil. Maybe someone can clear this up?

Thanks anyway for the great work ... again.

Where's the rest of that Dutch radio show? Anyone have a link to the full radio broadcast?

Brilliant...........the VARA Master is a blinder. Such a exceptional recording. "Atmosphere" from that recording is the finest example of the song played live out of all the JD recordings that exist. That recording, along with Les Bains Douches are the two finest JD recordings that have made it into circulation. Great work with that series………thank you!

Paradiso in general is one of the oldest Joy Division bootlegs - various versions of it have been circulating for 30 years. None of them are going to match this quality, though!

Yeah, I have Paradiso but not in this 'radio broadcast' quality. You said the full show in better quality surfaced and you've provided 5 tracks from it. Are you going to make the rest of the show available? If not, care to share where it can be found?

Btw, I've loved the work and care that's gone into all the remasters and appreciate your efforts. I also really like your megamixes of New Order and other bands on your website. Quality all the way.

Thanks, I appreciate that. I won't be sharing the entire recording, but I can tell you that asking the owner might result in a legal copy, if you go about it the right way.

Thanks again for this project. I would so love to be able to buy a box set of it instead of those that are available and the threatened joy division 7" singles box.

Cheers!

Very good live versions and good overall quality again!

I am happy to own a couple of Paradiso-songs, because I live near Amsterdam.

Are the Paradiso tracks from a different source to the upgrade versions posted on POIT a while back ?

Yes, they're sourced directly from VARA's master recording.

So the option to get a copy of the full gig is to email VARA and request a copy? Is that how people are getting the full show? I'm assuming they're not going to just dupe copies for everyone who writes in.
