I think the idea of letting a young kid get the chance to design some artwork for a band is great. Think of the pride they'll get from this - in fact i think it's a pretty noble act on the part of BL.
Regarding the album though, is anyone going to post any reviews yet - i'm itching to know how it sounds...............

Still; the artwork is cool, kinda representative of Barney's ping ponging into his 4th major group.
Did the kids help write the lyrics in a contest also? Just joking...
Simple and colourless is bad? And I thought I complained too much. Substance cover is cool, BTW. We'll see what the final release is, maybe not worthy of comparison to Saville but whatever. The four rows of bars is pretty cool as a logo, could do alot worse.
Now the first Electronic album cover... now that one borders on bad. And when you compare the first Electronic album to not only all the Saville/Factory cover art, but the Smiths discography, it just doesn't belong on the same shelf artwise. It did have some ugly looking reddish yellow colour thou, if you consider that better than just black and white.

The Oakwood school being referred to is a school for SPECIAL NEEDS students. Do you know what that means?
New Order did a special gig for the kids of the school in thier gymnasium, to make them feel special. Bernard later did a musical project with students at the school.
Not once during the whole time did "pompous and self obsessed" (your words) Bernard Sumner mention that he comes from a family of physically and mentally disabled people (his mother and grandparents for instance).
I do know about art, quite a bit, actually, because I studied Art History as an undergrad and I now work in an Art Museum. And I think the BL cover artwork is rather nice.
And I think the single is smashing as well. It's gotten positive responses from everyone I know who has heard it. So, you can think its shit, I think it a great pop song. I don't expect Bernard to reinvent the wheel, I just expect him to write good songs.
And just because someone doesn't see things your way doesn't mean they are wrong.

The first Electronic album cover wasn't that bad, IMO, but again, I'm quite happy with that pic of Bernard and Johnny on the cover.

Hey when are we going to get your opinion of the album, I have been patiently waiting because the review is coming from a TRUE New Order fan, I can't wait.
If you have heard it, at least give a description of the music. You don't have to praise or rip it.
Who does vocals for which songs, does Barney do backup on some? Are the songs for each singer distinct? Is their any reggae, disco, acid house, punk, or goth? Breakbeats? Flute solos? Acoustic songs? Something for the dancefloor? Any raps? Guest appearances? Any of those tracks have inappropiate bland female vocals Barney seems to think improve the songs? Any slow jams?

I concur with you. The cover has zero connection with the product (hopefully ;)). The art could be better like those by Peter Saville for Gay Dad.
On the other hand, getting older I realized I care less about cover art and CDs in particular.

Unknown Pleasures... black and white Closer... black and white Still ... simple with almost no colour Movement... little color, subtle blue or white PC&L ... classically colourful, British? Low-Life ... black and white and grey Brotherhood... not sure what that is Substance ... black and white Technique... very colourful, is this a good example of British colour? Electronic... two drab colours, and the band name is part of the artwork. Republic... very colourful Raise the Pressure... extremely colourful Twisted Tenderness... mostly a black and white photo Get Ready ... black and white photo, with just that band of colour Siren's Call... just white with coloured letters

For me New Order album covers always had some British theme to it, again it's my opinion because they are a British band so that is the reason why.

First impressions on hearing the tracks...
Jake Evan's tracks appear to be 4, 9, 10. Track 10 is the least New Orderly of the 10 tracks, you would not guess that Sumner was involved on track 10, but otherwise the other tracks sound like a Sumner product to some extent.
The tracks overall rock more than Sink or Swim, Sink or Swim is the most John Denver-ish. Lots of guitar of different styles but not anything extreme. "Summer Days on Holiday" starts out with some Smiths-ish era style guitar. Some of the guitar is definitely of a style not heard in New Order. But you will recognize many of the New Order/Sumner type of guitar melodies and subtle synth melodies in most of the songs, a few sounds remind me of Technique songs.
This is not a synth pop record, nor any overt stabs at the dancefloor, but does have some synths in the background. Doesn't sound very modern 21st century either, the production is much different from Franz Ferdinand for example. More of a dense, mainstream rock production than New Order in the past. At least no over the hill awful Stooges imitation attempts like "Rock the Shack".
That's true. American covers tend to have faces of the product. Think of Linda Rondstadt, Michael Jackson.
JD / NO Covers were always exqusite. And the merit goes to Saville. The thing is BL is not NO and not even a solo project by Sumner. The other thing is that Peter Saville retired from designing pop covers and if he's bothered to do a cover, he just mocks at what he has done in the past.

PLEASE tell me that the other songs on the album are better than the track DYNAMO which I heard the full song and was not that impressed with, it sounds like a B-SIDE from TWISTED TENDERNESS.
