Hmmm, if it's more WFTSC then Electronic I'll probably buy it and keep it in the house.. but if it's good I may keep it in the car. The thing that worries me is that, even though Sink Or Swim is good, it's not on par with anything of Bernard's 1st album singles. I'm still excited regardless, it's Bernard Sumner.

I've tried demonoid, the pirate bay, rapidshare and megaupload and turned up nothing. Little help anyone?

I got the promo, but am not online long enough to spread it around. Honestly, I'm very disappointed with how the project sounds.
Long time lurker, first time poster here. I've been very eagerly awaiting this album! I'm heading into an international residency in a few days and it lasts for a few months. I'm not sure what my internet situation will be but I am sure i will not be near any record shops. Anyway somebody could point me towards where to look for a download for the album? I'm certainly going to still purchase it when I'm able to and support the band! Many thanks, bug

Had a good listen, and will road test over next couple of days. First thing that sticks out is that Barney deffo cant write lyrics any more. There are a lot of odd influences on the album - I can hear a bit of The Who, Johnny Marr, Beatles, Stone Roses and even Hendrix.
Some of the songs are definitely poor. Standout tracks for me so far are 'Summer Days on Holiday', and 'Dynamo'. Much of it sounds like a happy Doves album with Jake's vocals.

Little bit of Led Zeppelin also... assume one of the younger guys is more into the "classic" rock. I was expecting a solo or two to go full David Gilmour, but they showed a little restraint. Seems rather a mediocre aspect to me, and not Barney's strength as a producer.

I have to correct myself... the new album is not very good, it's great! Thank God Bernard is not stuck in the past, maybe he could teach this new so-called electronic acts how to make music that doesn't sound like a ten-year-old playing with a Casio! Comparing Jake Evans vocals with Jimi Goodwin's is a long shot, but you can surely see a clear Doves influence on the tracks he sings. His backing vocals, specially on tracks 1, 2 and 4 are really cool, too. Phil Cunningham is another pleasant surprise. You can see a lot of The Smiths influence on his playing, but how can that be bad?
This is the kind of sound I expected to hear when I first heard of Electronic. Tracks people are complaining about are really the weakest: Dynamo (not a bad song, just a bad, bad chorus... nobody has mentioned it, but the keyboard line is the guitar riff of We Won't Get Fooled Again by The Who), Poisonous Intent (if only the keyboard part was higher on the mix, this song would be a killer) and Head into Tomorrow (the Led Zeppelin song, actually The Rain Song off The Houses of the Holy, let's hope Jimmy Page doesn't sue)!

I am shocked of how GOOD and AMAZING this album is, I was in Canada this week for a friends weeding and I was listening to it the whole week and I was blown away with the music, the guitar and the melody are amazing, I don't know why people are putting this album down for, this album is a SUMNER CLASSIC.

Listening now. I rearranged the track numbers to leave room for the other 4 tracks once they surface. I really like "Twist Of Fate"!
this lp is brilliant. i really feel out of touch with new order fans who don't like these songs.
i found thieves like us on the radio back in 1985, and have been a fan ever since.
i am the type of nutter fan who teared up when he first heard the last minute of Every Little Counts to conclude the Brotherhood vinyl... it was just majestic.
And I played in a load of bands who covered way too many Joy Division numbers, but I loved every minute of it.
Runaway is just amazing.
This is really some beautiful new music.
I was happily surprised at how good it was, Twist Of Fate, Runaway & Poisonous Intent were the initial standouts for me. Got it on me computer at work to chill out to over the next few days.
And cheers to Nick, Ally & Bert for filling my Facebook page with daft comments on the album, cheered me up no end on a dreary Monday morning at the office 
It's just a bit bland, innit? And a tad safe.
Absolutely no rough edges, no big beats, no electronica, and far too many jingly-jangly geetars. Which, in truth, was probably the way New Order were going too, sadly.
Sink or Swim is easily the standout track, can see why it's the single. Poisonous Intent promises but seems to shackled by rather bland production. Twist of Fate might be a good singalongsong, it reminds me of Sirens, the track. Sadly, half the album is remarkably forgettable though.
Just sounds like any other dot-to-dot generic Manc band to me. Get some lads in with some cool haircuts and trainees and chuck a load of guitars at them. The kids'll love it, hopefully.
Be interesting to see how this pans out in the live environment though. Anyone got a lighter I can borrow?

I was just thinking that I can't understand why they've picked Sink or Swim. Far better tracks than that to choose from imho. I love Twist of Fate and Summer days on Holiday in particular. Rest sounds good enough to make me think it'll be well worth seeing them live.
