The reason that Freebass are not playing

No it's because they do not exist as a known live act.

They're already better known than many acts, live or otherwise.

The night would probably attract even more interest if it was the first ever Freebass gig.

Very ineffectual attempt at an "argument" Bert.

Did you make a mistake in quoting me? I was just giggling about the fact that the quote makes no sense when presented completely out of context

No it's because I couldn't be arsed quoting the rest of it, as it sounded like it had been written by Hooky's press officer or someone with a tongue up his arse.

By the way.. I saw the Dr Nash bit earlier. What went wrong?

Can't be arsed highlighting another line of text? Thus making the quote irrelevant? Shame.

And nothing went wrong. I gave up being a glorified delivery boy when I was 18 and decided to better myself by concentrating on my studies.

Steve, you say on your site quite clearly that Freebass are making their live debut at this event. Thats clearly not the case. So why make the claim?

ETA: Here is a link to Steve's website, where it explicity states that Freebass will be making their live debut on this night.

You Know something Liam, for once i actually agree with you :thumb:

The information was reasonably correct, but alas whilst trying to juggle 4 different web based social networking mediums,a web site and blog site, fielding none stop phone calls from excited Fans and hastily copying and pasting information that i recieved ,admittedly,i did miss omit one crucial word.

I would like to thank you personally for pointing out my foolishness and i can assure you it will not happen again.

The mistake has now been corrected.

And the reason I dont have a night is because, well, I dont have the time. Maybe I did a few years ago, but certainly not.

Hang on, you're single, well paid, have every weekend off, don't start early, finish before half three every day and get thirteen weeks holiday a year. Do you want to rephrase that?

someone please correct me if I'm wrong, I know somebody will, but is this not a "fan site" for "fans" of new order and related acts???, I do apologise if this thought is misguided. I happen to know one of the members pretty well, fairly nice fella once you get to know him, and he's going back into the nightclub buisness with a new venture called factory 251 or something. we will be playing some songs on stage with a few freinds for a bit of a laugh, y'know, a bit of fun for entertainment, and seeing as its his club, we thought it would be nice to play some of his tunes, some old , some new, because the people who would most likley be coming, would be fans of the music he, and others, have done over the years, so they can sing along like. its a licenced club, so apart from a couple of people, I'm sure there will be a few that will be a little merry, myself included, hoping to have a good time. if anybody here would like to come along, then details of the event will be made public tomorrow. hope to see some freindly faces ta paul

p.s. nobody is obliged to come, if you don't want to, you don't have to, sorry to have bothered you.....sorry, ta.

Nicely put Mr Lead Foot and the best way of drawing a line under differing opinions on this.

Goes without saying that everyone is entitled to their opinion etc. and it's been more than said from all viewpoints  both positive and negative. That's what forums are here for so long as it doesn't get too offensive or slanderous (cue more popcorn jokes).

Anyway, not sure what else to say to defuse the bickering but (yep, a futile attempt):

oh Liam, Liam, Liam... one day the little boy will grow into a man, and when he does, he'll look back upon his past and state, "What an ass I made outta myself on a consistent basis"...

Go , wander round a bit, buy a drink, think ,I remember in here when it was quite good in 1995. buy another drink, try to tell an asymetrically haircutted young lady how you used to goto the hacienda etc, get blank 'duuuh yer wierdo' stare, realise you're old enough to be her dad, leave.

I shall refrain from saying anything personal.

However, to counter your previous point about this wanting to be about the club night and not Freebass, surely if this project was about new bands and new music, then why couldnt you have Freebass play? The connection to the past would be there, but in a contemporary form? But no, it'll just be another hark back to the good old days.

Anyway, I eagerly anticipate today's announcement...

The Teacher wrote: Well, considering the last time I saw Hooky do a gig like this, it was without question the very worst gig I have ever seen, I probably would go and see David Cameron and the Feltchers.

But anyway, this is supposed to be a forum for debate. I am raising perfectly valid criticisms of this night and concept. Teachers also encourage debate, just in case you didnt know.

Its now been five years since Freebass was announced, and this is what is being produced? Its really quite pathetic.

This isn't a debating forum, it's a forum for fans of New Order and their related side projects, to pass on information and news. You have no information or news other than you don't agree, we've heard this now, you don't need to continue.

Yes.

Apparently, Chris is a Doctor.

Steveo's started posting again and isn't flouncing anymore.

Col's just downloaded the complete series of Comic Strip Presents.

Pure Shaw likes 'em young.

Everyone. Likes. Popcorn.

All this, and more, in your daily slice of NOOL.

(Anyone know what 'MTL' stands for though?)
