Bernard Sumner rules out a New Order reunion

Sadly, I think from various interviews over the past few years from both Marr and Bernard it seems that Electronic has been "put to bed" permanently. Albeit on amicable terms as they're still friends.

For me the Electronic debut album stands head and shoulders above any other NO side project material,I remember that when it first came out it was a real breath of fresh air,I presume that the Electronic project fizzled out because of disappointing records sales and that was before the era of illegal downloads ever began,that is just my hunch by the way.

It was certainly pretty slick and consistant, a real statement of intent.

Best Side Project Single, for me, would be What Do You Want From Me? Blistering. When The Shirehorses did it I loved it more.

The debut LP sold every well, did it not? Top 5 at least - back when such things mattered. The mistake was then twofold: (i) leaving it five years before the follow-up, and (ii) filling said follow-up with a bunch of half-arsed shite that sounded for the most part like fucking Technotronic b-sides. Only not as good.

There's a lesson in there somewhere. ;)

Yerse I agree. What a pile of poo RTP was, cetainly in the wake of the so-hip-it-hurt début. To be honest I think the 'activity' at the mo is just a way of creating interest for 'Total', I'm sure a reunion is an abyss away. Their comments are always nutsy, especially Barney's, e.g.: (post-'Twisted Tenderness') I'm definitely going to work with Johnny again! (11 years on...?) Agree Jack - you will know more than anyone who posts on here. From my observations money is not an issue, Bernard, Hooky and Steve all have nice houses and cars (or tanks in Steves case) Talking to people I am led to beleive the issues are around life styles. Hooky likes his full on (without booze nowadays) and Bernard likes a more sedate pace of life (with Booze). So that a problem!

It's just so unfortunate really. Kinda makes you think that this is what inevitably happens in bands the longer you carry on........

It may be total rubbish that Craig spoke, but the fact that he described this to me is not rubbish, as he most certainly did, following a few cynical comments about Hooky's DJ-ing.
