Looking back I don't think Get Ready is a brilliant LP but it was the album we got at the time and it reinvigorated the fanbase enough for the gigs to take place. It did what it should have done and you can't really ask much more of a new album I.e. provide a reason for the band to exist both creatively and in terms of getting them out on the road.

Got to be said that even though it's not their strongest it was allegedly their first outing as "New Order Mark 2" which Hook recently declared his favourite incarnation of the band (minus Gillian, of course) and that GR was essentially a Sumner/Hook co-write with little input from Steve.

As fans we can make of that what we will, it's all there in black and white.

Weird, never heard it as lacking in Steve's input.

Though it does sound like Hooky's last major writing effort within NO, and an effort that hadn't been a full fourth/third since the days after Brotherhood.

Turn My Way is still my favourite track from Get Ready after all these years.

Overall I think it's a far superior album to the mostly dreadful Siren's Call.

It would have been a significantly better listening experience with those other tracks replacing some of those on the album.

Here to Stay, Crystal and Someone Like You are amongst my favourite New Order songs.

Get Ready also suffered chartwise because it was released on the same day as about a dozen other BIG names - The Strokes, Bjork, fucking Slipknot and Five (two polar opposites anybody? Boybands from hell!!!!! I would think so!), Mercury Rev and Nelly Furtado didn't help.....

Who was the clever dick behind its release date I wonder? That surely affected its chances.

I personally enjoy Get Ready for what it is, yes I substitute Rock the Cack for B sides(since it's on my zune, simple to just add tracks in). Was it brilliant? Not in the slightest, had moments of brilliance, marred by complete brickwall mastering, odd running order, and the occasional dodgy lyric, but it's still loads better than Jetstream(though that isn't hard).

Weirdly if you count In Session the last three New Order albums have been released in the UK on a bank holiday. So maybe Lost Sirens will land a little later than (currently) expected and hit us 9th April........

I remember loving Get Ready on first listen, except for Rock the Shack (mostly because Shoot Speed Kill Light was my favourite tune at the time). Like others have said, it's a shame Sabotage wasn't on there.

i think this record has aged really, really well. Primitive Notion is one of my absolute favorites. the only song i don't really care for is Rock the Shack.
