Hooky will be doing a Movement tour!!!

Its official, Hooky said that he will be doing a Movement tour, I asked him last night while he was signing at Amoeba records. He didn't give a specific detail but he said that he will be definitely doing it. Hopefully after the closer tour!!!:D

Yeah, after 'the 'Still' tour, and maybe even the 'Substance' tour.

Then maybe a 'Permanent' tour and a 'Les Bains Douche' tour. Seriously the 'PCL' tour should be interesting. Hooky with vocoder during Ecstasy will be quite entertaining.

I kind of understand him doing the JD stuff but Movement?! I really don't think its a good idea.

At the Factory show in may he said 'see you next year'. Movement was always on the cards. This will be great. Hearing Movement live will be a first for me as a fan starting from 1987 onwards. Bring it on... Bring on the JD and NO books and all the NO albums performed live. The other 3 will never do it, rightly or wrongly, so go Hooky!

Someone have a word with him. At least wait til the singers dead.

This is the only way to hear these songs anyway as Bernard is hardly likely to dust off any songs from Movement for any future gigs, and surely they will perform other tracks from 81-82 to fill out the set..

First, I didn't like the Movement idea. I accepted the Joy Division thing, because, well technically anyone is free to cover them (Curtis's dead and logically cannot perform it anyway). But with New Order stuff - there's a whole band still alive that could play all those tunes!!!

Having said that, I'm also aware that Bernard would never play dark obscure tracks from 1981-83 (heck, he's not even playing Low-life or Technique tracks!). So the question is: leave these tracks in obscurity, or have them performed by an original member (who at least in this case sang TWO songs originally). So I think I would go to a Movement gig only to hear the superb sound of a live performance and for its sentimental value (Hooky's involvement).

And yet, I still cannot afford even to go to see The Light's current tour, freaking hell...

All I can say is that I'm not interested. If he wants to do it, then I do not care much. But it seems he's a busy man. He's still touring JD, he said in interviews he's writing a JD book and that later he is planning to write a New Order book, now more plans for touring etc....

There's another way to look at that: Movement was made when Bernard's style was heavily influenced by that of Curtis; Bernard himself was trying to find his own voice at the time. So... it's not like Hooky is going to sing Bizarre Love Triangle, or is he?

Movement is a great album but not my favorite Hannett's production indeed. Read Hooky saying that NO didn't play DNE anymore cause of Bernard. Then I wondered, "Why? He's not singing on it?".

He's probably going to tour every single NO album one by one at this rate.....

We'll always love you Hooky, but sometimes......just sometimes......

I feel like Hooky has said that about so many songs. But they played DNE A LOT until 87. While a great tune, it's not the most interesting from a guitar player's perspective. It also has junior partner status to Ceremony, much like Face Up does to Temptation.

You're worth more than becoming a museum to yourself. Go out and do a "Best of Hooky" tour with Revenge, Monaco, Freebass, New Order, Joy Division material : sure. Fine. Do that.

But if you have to tour an album in full, can you please tour "One True Passion"?

Well, The Light have already done a pretty good Dreams Never End at the FAC251 opening night, and I must say it would be better if he just did a set based on all HIS best stuff like Monaco, Revenge, DNE, DEH etc, alongside something new.

However, I guess anything new is unlikely since he seems to have run out of steam creatively, preferring to re-live the past instead.

Probably wise for Hooky to just stop at "Ceremony" and the Joy Division tribute and be happy. Leave the New Order tribute to Bernard.

After this why not just tour whenever he feels like it with The Light and play whatever they feel like playing? Some Joy Division, pick a few New Order songs, a few Monaco, play Louie Louie or some Stooges or Pistols or whatever. Invite guests to play along. Have fun without the NO or JD implied label.

If I were Hooky I would bury New order. Joy Division is much better indeed!

Did already that in 2006 and did not like it to be honest. Joy Division best band ever!

Now that's the right approach. I wholly agree with it! It makes no sense to me, why Hooky didn't revive Monaco in 2007. They were fucking great!!! And he could tour now playing Monaco, Revenge, JD and NO tunes, just like Bad Loo did - NO ONE would bitch.

It's sad Hooky gave up on new material because of internet piracy concerns... But so many young bands keep putting out new music no matter what nowadays...
