Peter Hook: 'I'm not proud of the way New Order split up'

He said of this: "I would like to get on with my life to be honest. I have come to the conclusion that it would be better to bury the hatchet and sort it all out and get on with it. Unfortunately the other side, don’t seem to be doing that."
Since his plan to 'fuck them over' didn't seem to work out for him, now he's sorry and wants to be pals again?
He really needs to quit giving interviews.

Agreed. He continues to dig his hole deeper and deeper....

Then stop going on about it ENDLESSLY to ANYONE who will listen! YOU LEFT, FFS.
To quote Morrissey "GET OFF THE STAGE."

Agreed.
It's all very sad really.
He turns on a sixpence these days, and i wish i could say it was about something other than money. But unfortunately that appears to be the main thing that makes him 'tick'.
Sadly, all i can see is the man trying to protect his income, and in particular his future income, which we all try and do, but to slag off your bandmates for years on end and then try and jump back into bed with them at the first sniff of cash, is really tough to watch. Especially after his lawyers have probably told him that he can't 'fuck them over'.

Judging from their actions, it seems the rest of New Order have moved on. They don't seem to be visibly angry about Hooky (regardless of how they really feel) every time they have an interview (and nowadays, there's not much interviews). They do seem to be 'getting on' with their lives, playing music etc.

Something tells me, by that quote, that maybe the next Gretton is Hooky's wife? Maybe she's the one that talked some sense into him and how he's been carrying on?
Just saying as it sounds like a way I would say it, if I was retracting something my wife talked some sense into me about.
If they all wanted to "get on with the rest of their lives" they would give it all a rest and stop flogging a dead horse.
It's all been about making money and taking sides.

He insisted his former bandmates were "d**kheads" and that they would be "haunted" by his missing presence.
Haunted? I thought Halloween was a month ago?

They just need to lock themselves in a room together for six hours and have their respective wives / friends not let them leave until the shit is sorted out.
*FAC911 NewOrderIntervention
(or, FAC999 given that they're British)

Having heard enough NO bootlegs from the 80s, Hooky could've turned down a bit.
Yeah, Bernard could've sung more in tune too, but it's a bit of a shame when his guitar bits are half the volume of Hooky's.

And maybe said wives could design them new stage costumes based on their respective star signs?
Then in 2014, "Love Juice" goes top 10 in Japan.

But you don't understand, Hookys bass amp volume control goes all the way up to 11, so he was always one louder than Barney..
I think Barney should rerecord Love Juice as a mash up with Fine Time - take out Hooky's bass and insert his Medallion Man groans and moans and heavy breathing all over the track...... that should really piss him off!
:p
you always hurt the people closest to you...its a natural (but hurtful) human thing that we do.Based on this assumption i think hooky has been feeling vunerable lately and lashing out (wrongly) at his friends....im sure his attempts lately at burying the hatchet are not for financial gain....possibly guilt....were all human and make mistakes..even our musical heroes......well done Peter for making a start at appologising ....im still going to the troxy gig and yes you will be very much missed !

I can't see any reasons beyond the financial one. And i don't think he's even attempted an apology. Today's alleged revelations re: withdrawing his permission to release the 'Lost Sirens' certainly has no apologetic feel to it.

Sod that, in some people's eyes (e.g. the rabid fans who still come here and post their contributions) there is simply no more excuses by this point.... promising something as a goodwill gesture/treat and then subsequently pulling the rug from under people's feet amounts to nothing but treason.
And that's a crime punishable by stoning - or at the very least, a full day in the company of a very annoying z-list celebrity, locked in a room together.
I mean, I personally am not that fussed about any of this but there are nevertheless a lot of other people [on this forum] who are very cheesed off with all this procrastination.

That'll cost you 299 Oz dollars for five minutes.
A sad state of affairs. Hooky sounds like the guy who dumped the best girl he ever met by text message, and bangs on about it to his mates down the pub for the rest of his life whilst she meets someone new. And, by constantly playing the old stuff, bangs one out at the memory most nights of his life.
It's a sad state of affairs. The only person who needs to find peace with it is Hooky himself. He left. He chose not to be in the band. And, if the information is correct, sent a proxy to tell the rest of the band the news. If it comes to burying hatchets, he's the one who plunged it into the heart of the band a while ago and is now crying over the fact that it didn't kill the victim and the corpse decided it didn't need him anymore.
That's how it sounds, get over it Hooky. You screwed up,live with it like an adult. Dragging The Joy Division Revue tribute Show over the world at $200+ Meet-and-greets ain't exactly dignified. There's nothing edgy, or arty in it despite what you say in interviews. It's sad and a shame that I guy I once saw as almost a hero is behaving like this.

Yup.My heroes back when i was about 15-16 were Hooky, Barney, Tony Wilson, Rob Gretton... I'd also add John Peel to the list as a hero of mine back then. Sad that yer heroes eventually die but also sad that one of yer heroes has though still alive turned into a complete tosser:(

And, equally, it only adds to the voices shouting that he's a money grabbing tosser. He's just loading the gun for the critics and disgruntled fans alike. Personally, my gruntle has never been so off kilter.
Im going to start listening to Mick Hucknall at this rate. He's a prick but Ive always thought that so I wont feel let down at any point.
New Order will realize they can make more money with him back in the band, and so they will let him back, especially if doing so allows them to release Lost Sirens.
March 2012.
money always wins out over spite.

Deluded, the remaining three will probably make more as it currently stands.
