There's only one man to blame for this Hank and it's not me or the Fruitcake. Where did the banter go?? Every time I look in it's more boring than the last time. The halcyon days for this site are gone, and I fear they'll never return, which is a real shame and no mistake!

the general standard of threads has gone down creating less incentive to post, many original members have been from what i've heard often reluctantly drawn into long pitched 'thread battles' of which tends to more often than not end in spite or ill feeling. I do my best not to get involved in the board 'politics' but things have become somewhat subdued lately.
Tis a shame, but its ultimately a group members effort to pick things up again :)

Throughput it still ten times what it was on Temptation, eighteen months back.
Had a look-see at alt.music.new-order at the weekend and was shocked to see how much that little forum had dried up of late..

Lack of band activity doesn't help Al, that's true. It has to be said though that the core of this site, say eight months back when activity was at it's height, spent more time bantering 'bout nothing in particular than we did discussing the reason we were attracted here in the first place. This was the best fansite on the web, one ego destroyed that.
I'm a whimsical Piscean, I just wish the good old days could come back. I've met some wonderful people through this website, some of whom i'll remain friends with for the rest of my days. I'm sure that applies to many people here and I suppose we should be grateful for that.

Without fresh news,reviews and band gossip things can go a bit slack, but lets be fair though, we have had more band activity in the last year than since this site launched!!
A new album, single releases, get ready dates, countless festivals and plenty of tv appearances - even a film!!
You have to look back to Republic to draw comparisons with that level of NO activity.
It would be hard to deny that the supposed new 'Werewolf' section in the main menus wouldn't have introduced a surge in online activity.*
Alas this never occurred, despite numerous promises made (mainly in my own mind).

I've only ever passed through Luton, thankfully....Meeting up with my long lost brother who lives oop north for a few jars before the game - reckon I'll need it the way we've been playing. Pretty sure it'll be an entertaining game if nothing else. Just about to leave - any excuse for a half day - so I'll keep my eyes peeled for you...

After all the goings on of a few months back - both on & offline, things were never going to be the same again and it is with some sadness that I have to say that I don't ever think they will be. Alot of what happened was unecessary and tho' the main issues were resolved, the fact remains that certain people were prevented from airing their personal views and certain others resorted to guerilla tactics blah blah blah...
It IS still alot of fun when we get together tho and I don't think you can deny that.

That's the saving grace Jonathan, that a core of us have made contact and forged friendships that will last a very long time, and yes it is fantastic when we all get together. What've you been up to these last couple o' months? If you fancy a beer and a chew at the bull gi'es a bell.
in the grand sceme of things, everything that happened in the past was so meaningless. sure, i was horrified by the actions of some but in order for this to be a vibrant community, we all have to add our comments to meaningful threads (like WSR 31 etc..) and not to threads about how much it sucks to post here....notice this thread has a lot more than the recent NewOrder themed posts....stop bitching about how bad things are and start to change if that is truly what you want....we could all talk shit about specific peeps but if you want a fun, active forum, you have to contribute, fun, active posts.
i spend too much time here like most of the forum members but in relationship to what's really important to my life, this forum is just below the dirt i walk on the the polluted air I breath....taken for granted and even resented on occaisions i.e. not that important at all....it's like a really shitty day in Junior High with everyone holding grudges and being pissed off for stupid reasons.....the only way to return to normal is to forgive and FORGET and ACT NORMAL.

And you're right about this place being on the decline...doesn't keep me half as amused as once upon a time. Can't forget though this site's been responsible for me meeting some f***ing fantastic peeps and having some of the best times ever :)

Very eloquently put Brian but somewhat contradictory to the gist of the snail-mail you sent myself and at least two other sometime banned members of this site a couple of weeks back. Not very entertaining either, i'm sure most will agree. The point i'm making is this: the entertainment value here has plummeted, that's because of the actions of one dillusional man. WSR threads are all well and good, favourite New Order this or that threads too have their place, it just seems to me that the spirit of the forum has died. That's because the entertainers have been gagged because they are more popular than a dodgy Canadian lawyer. That's all!

Hiya Kez, would be good if you, Liv & Annie could join us to this, more the merrier. The deal is.....NO are supposed to be performing as you probably already know, alas we don't know WHEN exactly. There are 6 shows in Mcr but unsure if NO will be playing some or all or any. That's the dilemma.
As the venue, a marquee or somet, only has a 600 cap, we might miss out if we hang around to get more info. Soooo, me & Al have booked Satdy tix, both performances & together with Mickey Way also got Friday night tix.
Even the legendary Stash can't find out when. Andy Rob reckons he knows nuffink. That's it really, but hopefully our guesswork will pay off.

Definitely isnae......Used to spend hour upon hour replying to posts during the day....there was always a big load of ye's posting through the day, and it was great to see just how much keich you's could go on about, having said that, there were some ON topic posts
When the arguments started and the shit hit the fan, with people being sent to the darkest corners of the world (Ibrox) 
before being allowed back to post again, the site lost something, people got disenchanted and thought fuck it!!
Reading back through some of the posts, they weren't all OFF topic, and to be truthful I thought there was a good mix of stuff going on without having to revert to 2 forums. But I suppose it IS a New Order site and fans come to ask "serious" questions about the band......BUT even then the questions would be answered, it seemed that these people who never posted were the one's e-mailing the Webbies to complain

Life is good Jim, but not as we knew it, and I can never see it going back to the golden age......and Yes I do apologise, I suppose I'm to blame as much as anyone........but obviously not to blame as much as MARTY;)
I've been busy with schooling and all that, so I can't say I've been by as lately as I would have liked, but there are honestly some days where I get on and wonder why I bothered. New Order seems to have dropped off the map, nothing new's being released here in the States, I still can't find 24HPP anywhere nearby, and it just seems that the spirit and high times of a few months back are gone. In some ways, I think the one-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks may have something to do with it, as we all got self-concious of the fact and a general air of melancholy over the year gone by manifested itself in the highly charged nature of certain topics in various threads. Over all, the good will that had resulted from the past few month's excitement over 24 HPP and all the various promised new things subsided and was replaced by tension and spite. For that, no one is to blame, it's a collective ill will and I have been just as party to it as anyone here. When we forget why we come here, we forget how to be civil, and that seems to be the case, as NO is apparently doing nothing and the rest of us have to find soemthing to talk about.
Yeah, Muffy, this place is not what it used to be, but I've been here long enough to believe we're just going thru a down time, and if anything should be heard from about New Order things might just pick up again. It seems like a case of collective stress, and we have to weather the storm before we can see the sunlight. I've found this site to be a great community, like some of the other sites I go, so I would be cautious to declare a moratorium on the site. Sure, topics have become redundant or just plain unimaginative (I cop to a few of both myself, as a topic starter), but that's what happens when conversation runs long in real life. At any rate, it's a bad, boring patch right now, but this too shall pass.
If at the very least I can help alliviate the situation by being a smart-ass, let me know
