LWTUA on Permanent: Joy Division 1995

I got this awhile ago. Track 16 is the crappy permanent mix of Love Will Tear Us Apart (3:37).

But track 1 is a totally different version of Love Will tear Us Apart, different from the common 3:27 version that is on Heart & Soul. The LWTUA on Permanent is 3:11 long AND Hooky or someone can be distinctly heard singing the chorus alongside Ian Curtis. What version of LWTUA is this?

EDIT: I can talk about Joy Divsion on this message board, right?

Anyways, i found out at the other site that it is the Pennine version. It says the Pennine version is 3:14 thats close enough to 3:11.

EDIT: Sorry for wasting everyone's time.

It's the version that's 3:14, of course.

It's the uncredited one on the b-side after These Days. Also made it onto the Atmosphere CD single when it got re-released.

Pennine as in Pennine Studios.

Maybe you should think twice before joining a website for 30 seconds and telling people to shut the fuck up.

Or maybe Jason wasn't spamming. I'll just take this as a sign that threads about Joy Division aren't welcome here. After all, this a New Order thread, why was i so stupid as to even think about here? Man, you people really piss me off. You ppl are in your 20/30/40s and i hope never become like you. Actually I'm gonna kill myself when i reach 19 years of age to make sure that never happens. My life is already way worse than Ian Curtis's. I haven't had any friends in about 5 years friends, i can't connect with people, i am doing bad in school, etc. Even why i post here i am rejected yet again. The very first reply to this thread is mocking me. You'll never hear from me again assholes. bye bye.

David, me young snipper of a lad, chill out, have a beer. Don't pay any attention mate, Joy Division threads are always welcome, although it's not guaranteed you'll always receive thoughtful and helpful replies. Get drunk it always helps:nod:

Jeffsy, I passed on yer best to Baldrick, he sends his best, and says when are ye comin over....I told him you weren't comin back and it had something to do with a jar of vaseline and a bears costume:lol:

At LAST a sensible post!:DHope i die before i get like ROCKET MICK you mean.Well ideas are always GOOD in theory but it did not work for PETER TOWNSEND so don't try that.Just get pissed ,put on a NOLANS or BARRY MANILOW LP and the whole world will become a better place. You know there is a guy on this forum who will remain nameless but lets just call him JEFF THE CHEF and even he straightened his life out ....so there is hope even for YOU and ME.Have a nice day......listen to the wise words on IAN CURTIS who sang "HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY TALK.....TALK ABOUT THINGS YOU'D LIKE TO DO!" and have a marmite sandwich and a WALNUT WHIP.Then come back here and tell me LIFE IS GREAT. If not you should try living in CHORLEY. Rocket Mick :cool2: :redhat: AGE UNKNOWN but according to legend 102.:p

Yeah, Dave, lighten up. As someone who's disconnected himself from every meaningful relationship with friends and family in order to be online, I can speak for the humorous comments of us all. I always welcome a JD thread.

As for your query, The Pennine version (track 1 on Permanent) is my least favorite. I like the slower take on H&S much more. Well I shouldn't say track 1 is my least fave, considering the less-than-wonderful live takes on it.

Lovely use of phrase Trev, I noticed 2 wee words in that last part which are particularly apt fer Baldy:nod: the words GAY and OLD :evil4:

And to keep it on topic:D I think the Pennine version is great, it gives you a slightly different take on the song, but for moi, the original single version cannot be bettered, one of the best intro's of all time;)

 Firstly, I'm sure I've seen Barney playing Ian's white guitar used in the video (and concerts), but I remember an interview, not too long back, where Barney says he lent Gillian's guitar for LWTUA at the last couple of gigs, so I'm not exactly sure with this one. Secondly, when someone gives me the ammunition (even when it's on-topic) I feel I have a responsobility to try and be witty in reply, obviously this fails sometimes and I get a warning:lol: But I DO try to bring it back on topic;) The last time I came out of a closet, the wardrobe monsters where having a party in me room:D

Sadly it was stolen, along with the rest of the band's gear, a week after Barney was seen using it at the Ukrainian National Home gig that was videoed for Taras Shevchenko and later featured on 316. It was a Vox Teardrop (Curtis also had a Vox Phantom) - Italian make, there's a place up by Wembley that sells them. Pretty rare now, and horrible sounding things !!

Nope. The original white Vox Phantom that Ian used to have is still with Barney and it was even used at "24 Hour Party People" movie. There is an article at movie's website about original equipment used in the filming. Just follow this link: http://217.204.45.80/film_sub.php?section=1&subsection=2&article_id=35

Also, in Ideal for Living there's some pics of Barney with the Vox (not the pox) in January '82, so it couldn't have been with the missing loot from earlier. I thought the equipment was stolen BEFORE Taras Shev....?

Thanks to the three of you above.I have often wondered what happened to this.Great anecdotes and i vaguely remember a story of the equipment getting nicked. Rocket Mick:redhat:
