“Interesting is subjective” seems to me to be saying “this isn't interesting, it’s boring and of no interest to me and/or possibly others”.

As we're a little way into 2021 now, I'm wondering if there's any gossip about the 'Low-life' definitive edition. Is it being worked on? Any tentative release date or other info?
Just listened to Jack's weekly chat and Hooky mentioned that he'd been asked to record the interview that accompanies the box set, no mention of when it will be released but sounding promising!

That's a real shame. I was hoping the release frequency would increase as each one came out. Looking back, I think 'Movement' was announced about 4 months before it came out in April 2019, and 'PCL' just two months before its October 2020 release. So on past form, we're looking at 2-4 months between the announcement of the next one and its release. If 'Low-life' won't be announced soon, guess it'll not come out until 2022 now - or late 2021 at the very earliest if we're lucky.
Purely speculative on my part, but assuming the 18 months between the first two becomes the norm for the subsequent releases, we're looking at a very long term campaign to get to the end of these definitive editions - potentially as long as another ten years.
I see three likely schedules:
Studio albums only:
Studio albums + Substance in original chronological release order (the albums and order I hope they come out in):
Studio albums + Substance at end of the campaign:
This does make me wonder if the campaign will make it past Technique, in reality. Only time will tell, I guess...

Yeah, it all falls apart after Technique or even Brotherhood: Peel Sessions BBC Radio 1 Live In Concert Best Of Rest Of I honestly lost track after that. Mojo 327 mentioned LowLife for 2021 but (a) they qualified it as a 'rumour' and (b) they're fucking Mojo.

I'm sure we'll get back onto it early in 2022. Warners block book with their manufacturers which means they can prioritise whatever they want into those bookings, so there's no reason why a release in 2022 isn't possible, if it's ready.

^ Not a peep as far as I'm aware. If I recall, the announcement/press release ahead of the Movement one was 4 months. Can't remember how many months ahead the PCL one was, was it a bit shorter at 2 months or something?
Only clue I've found whilst Googling it is this vinyl test pressing of the album from last year on Discogs.

You have to assume that it's the same Frank Arkwright remaster from 2015 too - so not even a different master source

Given it sold on 5 March and my post about it was on 4 March, it's probably fairly safe to assume someone bought it after reading about it in this thread. There's certainly some dedicated/crazy (delete as appropriate) collectors out there...!

hey, i resemble that remark.
of course, its nice to have 1 offs, or early/proto versions of albums, if you can afford it, or want it bad enough.
at some point, collecting the regular releases is just boring, and if you have the promos, the next level is test pressings and acetates.
but i haven't gotten past the promo point, i do have some white labels though.

Acetates, test pressings and white labels are the grails at the highest end of the NO collectors market.
Most of these collectors have practically everything else, so fighting over these is the final flex. I've traded with most of them before but don't buy into these much.
I landed a rare NO acetate in the early days of eBay and have been offered some large amounts for it since. Back then you could get them for less than a hundred bucks. Now they're often in the thousands. Kicking myself for not loading up, of course.
Also kicking myself for not buying more than two copies of the US Technique Tourbook at a promoter's house, mid-90s. He had a huge stack of them in mint condition; I'm talking hundreds of copies for $5 each. Kind of a surreal find in Perth, AU.
Is this box even still going to happen? Or has it been cancelled??? Would be nice to know either way.

If anyone knows the status of the Joy Division live box set too, that would be helpful.
My lowlife an£ brotherhood albums are the ones in the poorest condition so I was really hoping these would get the deluxe box set edition. If they don’t hurry up we will be too old to enjoy them!

That there’s a box set, complete with tracing paper sleeve, a full-length ‘Elegia’, a vocal version of ‘Let’s Go’ and two DVDs crammed with haphazardly brilliant live performances.
Just a sign. So we don’t all give up.
It'll be a single DVD this time. We had a lot of material for PCL, and this isn't the case for the rest.
It's still coming along, we might make it for 2022, but I can't guarantee that it won't slip into early next year.
