Don't blame me, this is the 6 most voted songs from the "best Joy Division song" poll!

So you have to vote for one of those 6, and if you want, explain why you have voted for that song.

My pick will stay with Atmosphere, because it has all you want from a Joy Division/New Order song..

I seriously have to start listening to 24 Hours.. I don't even remember what it sounds like!

Atmosphere for me. A sonic masterpiece. When they started the set with this at the Gorge i got weak in the knees...could have been the *^#@ though.

When I was a big jessie....and was in love, it was definitely 24 hours.....but since I got sensible:nod: it'll be NDF. To listen to that on a miserable grey day, when it's pissing down, and Celtic have just got beaten by a dodgy penalty in the 3rd minute of injury time at Castle Greyskull, the dog's just pegged it and I've run out of fags and beer.......it'd still cheer me up:thumb:

DANCE-DANCE-DANCE-DANCE-DANCE TO THE RADIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, weren't they a punk band, after all?

A song full of energy, specially when played live. Wonderful.

And the best version is the Peel Sessions one. Amazing.

Well, i hate to be extermely un-orignal, but it has to LWTUA, its the 1st joy Division song i heard, and its the one i still return to and love more every day, its the perfect record, im not the only one who thinks that. New Dawn Fades and Atmosphere follow closely behind though, especially the live version of NDF on Still, where you can just hear emotion pouring out of Ians voice.

And anyway isnt this whole poll thing becomeing a bit tiresome?

In Stockholm last year Barney said before he start singing Atmosphere... "This is my favorite Joy Division song...problaby it's the best song we ever written it's call Atmosphere..." A agree Barney it's the best Joy Division song...but I'm not so sure if it's the best song they ever written...

IT DID....LWTUA

Atmosphere......definitely the quintessential Joy Division song. Such melancholy power, like In a lonely place. I think SLC is up there, though. When Closer was reviewed in 1980, 24 Hours was considered the 'centre-piece' of the album, but I would have included Passover or Decades in this selection instead. It's all subjective, of course.

Atmosphere

It's such a beautiful song.

Each one is so different and each one is so truly amazing that it is like deciding whether you prefer lobster mousse wrapped in smoked salmon or fillet steak stilton rarebit or a bottle of chateaux lascombes 82 or clotted cream scones with strawberry jam or..... steak pudding chips and gravy. Will just have to chew on this a while.

I had to pick the classic LWTUA out of that bunch...

LWTUA - 2nd best song ever written. Was close to tears when they played it at the Apollo come back gig in 98. Never thought i'd get to hear ir live. Beautiful. :) :) :) :) :)

chose NDF - my all time favourite track by anyone.

it's the only song (i don't want to sound like Jo Wiley here but i'm gonna) where i feel raw emotion. it touches me like no other song. a real raised hairs on the back of the neck job!

New Dawn Fades makes me sad, I always mumble the lyrics every time I hear it, and it tears me apart every time. Check One in the vote.

went with New Dawn fades, always wanted to learn that on guitar but to dumb to figure out. could have gone with LWTUA but if i had my drothers it would have been decades, that's the song that gets me.

and Ceremony, the live Joy Division version I think is particularly ace.

I've gone for She's Lost Control over the others because Joy Division made it brilliant not once but twice. Two totally contrasting takes on the song, as opposed to the evolving versions of the others, particularly LWTUA.

For me the original lp version is simply THE best song ever - by anyone. IMHO, that this song represents the band at their peak. Bass and drums forcefully underpinning Ian's vocal and one of the best riffs Bernard ever played.

Oh yeah and Ian's accompanying dance.

The re-recorded 12" versions (with or without the fade out ending), show that the band were not afraid to deconstruct a song always acknowledged as one of their classics and give it a whole new sound.

I suppose on any other day I (or any other fan) could easily elicit their own feelings of any of the other five, or indeed any of the other 40 or 50 JD songs, and thats why Joy Division are the best band ever.

It's just that She's Lost Control is my personal favourite.

I probably lost the 6 best polling, when I perhaps been voted in this order: (1) Transmission, (2) Digital, (3) She's Lost Control - single version, (4) Disorder, (5) Walked In Line and (6) Isolation. Anyway, my best JD track is Transmission, as voted above.

Punk attitude....but more a 'Dance band' as time has shown us (with a little cathasis thrown in).

Atmosphere, one the greatest records ever!

Since Dead Souls is not on the list, I'm gonna go with She's Lost Control.

I don't know why people like Atmosphere so much. That's the only song where Ian's voice sounds so stupid.

Would've voted for Ceremony but it's been omitted for some reason...Strange that!

Hard to pick between SLC and Transmission for me, I think I picked Transmission because it's more fun and prettier and more exhilerating, but SLC is just as good a song and the lyrics are some of their best. LWTUA is hard to hold apart from the hype surrounding it, hard to separate from that, but still one of their best.

Ceremony may be my favorite of all but the situation there is hard to deal with since we don't have a good Joy Division recording. Sheer genius, those interwoven guitar and basslines and vocal melodies. I could listen to it over and over for hours and i probably have.
