Patty cakes... trust in the Muffbox, 5-8-6 is a truly awesome spectacle to behold. Play it only at high volumes with the bass up so high it'll curl your toes up.

You mean movies made up facts? I remember reading with amusement the uproar (is that the right word?) over "U-571", which basically credits us with something the British did (recovery of the German code system).

Muffy and Huntsy, believe me, I LOVE 586, just not that first 1:45. I gave it another listen last night, and I'm still inclined to skip that intro.

However, while sampling the back catalog, I was also reminded that Face up is just about perfect; people don't seem to mention that one very much. Why is that, guys? "Guess what I'm going to do to you" is one of my favorite NO lines.

Personally, I especially the moment the Face Up intro finishes and the song speeds up.

I was playing Facing Upto Things just the other day on top volume and that song is a freak of nature. The beginning few synth 'Aohhh' choir sample fellas are awesome coupled with Morris's horrendously overblown bass drums reverbed up their own arse and back.

This song actually sounds like a party going on.

Make no mistake... Face Out is a belter.

While were on the subject of things that are not gassed about a great deal.. what about Barney's simply awesome singing on THAT version of Subculture. Absolutely filthy.... I love it.

Glad to hear all these good things about Face Down (on the floor mix); also good words about Submuncher are always welcome. Are you commenting about Low Flying version as compared to Sundance version, Huntsy?

The Lowest Life-form version. The singing really does defy any musical logic and as such, remains yet another New Order oddity... the kind that keeps them so appealing.

On the subject of bad things... Rock Dirt has now moved (IMHO) from a bad song that's bad to a song that's so bad its good.

Which is always a bonus.

Since Substratum was released, I've tended not to listen to the Loafer version of Submulcher, but I'll give it a listen to see what you mean, Huntsy.

On Get Up Jack, I'm just pleased at the evolution of your thoughts, no matter what words you use to express it.

Doesn't the "Low-life" version of subculture have a great big monster of an ending? I seem to remember the band themselves have noted the compensatory element involved here ("big endings, little dicks"). Oh, and "Lonesome Tonite" has a pretty fucking glorious last few mins as well, don'tcherthink??
