favourite 'crap' bands

After another post where someone made the alarming admission that they liked Offspring, it got me thinking. Obviously New Order fans have impeccable taste but there are some bands we like who, lets be honest, don't quite have the same credibility as our Manc favourites.

Here now is an opportunity to exorcise those demons by listing your favourite crap bands.

I shall start this list of shame with the stark confession that I own 2 Shed Seven records - A Maximum High & The Greatest Hits (don't laugh). They've made some shit songs admittedly but Chasing Rainbows and Disco Down are both great songs in my book.

There, I’ve done it. Already I feel as though a great weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Who would have thought a post could be so cathartic?

PS - If anybody says Toploader (ironic or otherwise) I will start a campaign to have them booted off this board, as nobody with a pulse, let alone someone with a New Order CD in their collection, should have anything other than loathing for this 'band'.

PPS – you can’t say Revenge either.

I own "Boomania" by Betty Boo. It's fucking great. And it means I don't have to reach for the top shelf in the newsagents.

Ooooh, Betty.

My young friends like NewOrder, but DEFINATELY NO CHANCE of doing a similar 'Human League conversion' on them.

Well quite. The Human League are not in the same er, league as New Order.

Well, I already said in one topic there is some songs you would never admit you actually enjoy...

And that's normal...

Can be found in my "best of" mp3s :

Dido - Thank You.mp3 Enya - Only Time.mp3 Hole - Malibu.mp3 Jennifer Lopez - If You Had My Love.mp3 Loreena McKennit - The Mummer's Dance.mp3 Madonna - American Pie.mp3 Melanie C. - Goin' Down.mp3 (don't tell ANYONE) Public Enemy - He Got Game.mp3 Sixpence None The Richer - Kiss Me.mp3 Sixpence None The Richer - There She Goes.mp3

10 out of 200.. that's only on my work machine, I have some Ace of Base and Whighfield on my home machine as well :D

I should go in shame....

I like Madonna's old stuff, Holiday, Lucky Star, La Isla Bonita etc, but am not too keen on her new 'dancey' material. I'm also a bit partial to TLC and Destiny's Child and wait for it, I quite liked that Love Is A Rollercoaster song by Ronan Keeting.

I must be regressing as I get older!

Er, I bought Kylie's new album today, but it's for my daughter,............................................... honest!! :smoking:

Come now Nic...

you act like owning something by Dido or Sixpence is a bad thing...I've got them both...as well as some other acts that might not be cool amongst fans of NO...Barry White, you know, the guy that makes chicks randy just by talking...as well as some older Genesis, ABBA, hey, I even like Lauryn Hill and some rappers who called themselves Public Enemy...but of all my discs...the 3 that I would probably be most ashamed of letting anyone know about would be

  1. The Best of Howard Jones

  1. KC & The Sunshine Band

I think Sixpence None The Richer's eponym album is a very good one, and Kiss me is a very well crafted single -- I NEVER got tired of listening to it. Did you know they are from Texas? I bet you did!

P.S. For some reason I think we'll have to deal with the Braves and the Yankees in the World Serie again this year. How much can a man be fed up?

Yes Mr. S.

I did know that they originated at one of the college towns down here, but I do have to admit that when I first heard their name, I assumed they were from Engerland!!!

And dear God no, not the Braves and the Yanks...please....

Oh My God...This is fucking embarrasing. How many more skeletons should be unleashed from the closet.? Hear this: perhaps my worst of the 80's has got to be Howard Jones - the futurist Gilbert o' Sullivan, fuck! That's pretty unbeatable isn't it? Only because the whining existentialist supported OMD in 1983 with that pretentious wanker sidekick of his (I even remember his name: Jed Hoyle: quick, shoot me now!!) and then got asked back for an encore they loved him so much. He even stated once on radio that he owed his success to the Liverpool audience: Jeezus christ, looking back, what the fuck did we all do?? Altogether now: "Throw-off-your-men-tull-chayyynnnss!!!...WOO.... OOH-OOH!!!"

Or perhaps not.

I don't know about my favorites...but I do have to say that I cannot stand Tantric, Creed, and Lifehouse, and every other band who sing with 'that voice' (you know what voice I'm talking about.) It's a vocal abomination.
