The Reflex, Hungry Like a Wolf, Planet, Earth, Rio i.e all the early stuff was quite good. However, if any can one explain/defend the covers of White Lines and 911 is a Joke then i'll be impressed.

People who were capable of replying constructively took time and trouble to respond to your question and you then simply twisted all the comments around purely because you dont like the band.

In actual fact I am glad you don't like Duran and I hope you don't like Suede either. That way I can be sure that I don't ever have to stand next to you at a gig and listen to your constant rants about how crap the music is! However I get the impression that you may turn up just to piss everyone off!

I am sorry you had a bad day, and I hope you now feel a lot better. If you were attacking others musical tastes purely with the intention of making them as miserable as you, then I'm sorry love, It didn't work.

I respect that you have a different taste in music to myself, thats what is so good about this board, we are all unique and have our own tastes but we all share the same respect for New Order. We will continue to enjoy varied musical tastes, but why start a war just because people don't share your musical preferences?

I can't help you with this one! its beyond me! 911 was a joke, but white lines was great live and maybe should have remained a "live only" track!

muffy, vicious and all other durannies.. honestly, i dont know why i bother...why do people have to take criticisms of bands they like so fucking personally? and start making personal attacks. whats the point of that? no-one denies anyones right to like a certain bands music if thats what they want. you can listen to duran all you want but im not a fan of the band, why should i not argue my corner if im not convinced of their greatness? liv gave her reasons why she believed them great, assuming that i was unfamiliar with their work; i gave a response (and as im a fast typist it only took out 5 minutes out of my busy day) based on my not inconsiderable knowledge of the band and their music. jesus i even admitted that they did have some sharp singles. i answered all of livs points and it was pretty well argued i thought, albeit a touch on the cheeky side. muffy i have a question for you, whats the point of holding an opinion about music or politics or anything for that matter,if you dont believe it to be right? surely its not ignorant or stupid to believe you are right, as long as you accept that others will differ in their opinions and have the right to do so. part of the point of posting on a message board like this one is to invite discussion about music, and that obviously involves an inherent element of disagreement. i dont expect everyone to like disco tunes because i like them and i certainly dont get shirty when people turn round and say "disco sucks", actually i usually find it fun and amusing to have a good argument about it, without getting personal. no-ones taste in music is above question, as this thread has shown. and my taste is certainly not unimpeachable, but if theres one thing i like to avoid its making sweeping statements about the greatness of musicians/bands without the insertion of the phrase "in my opinion". god, im a cheeky mare...by the way vicious i`m a huge suede fan. oh yeah and thanks for characterizing my argument as a "rant", could say pretty much the same thing about your post.

Velocity Girl, you are of course quite right to believe in your opinions and argue them forcefully if you wish, there is nothing at all wrong with that, but maybe your 'cheeky' tone made it seem a little more harsh and personal than it was intended to be. Let's just agree to differ on this one and move on.
