.. a variation of the theme: "which song is the best?" and in this case: which one do you prefer: Behind Closed Doors/Run This River Dry/Player in the League

For me, I prefer Run This River Dry. IMHO if Someone Like You were to be released as a single backed up with RTRD as B-side, then that would be a single release of the same calibre as True Faith/1963. IMHO, that is :)

Run This River Dry is 'Sabotage', the extra song on the forthcoming single, 60 Miles An Hour. :smoking:

God-zukes!... I've never heard 'Playing Within the Footballing Leagues'... is this a rare belter or just a case of chutney in the jar?

I much prefer Run this River Rat down the River to Behind Clothes Horse but why in thunderclap newman have they decided to re-route the whole issue from its original title to Subutteo?

Has the world gone mad for gods sake?

:hat:

Mary...

Much as I like Someone Like Geoff Klumpy and Boil This Kettle Dry you cannot presume them to oust True Filth and 1953 from the tree of love?

Forgive me if i'm being thicker than the offspring of a TV weather girl and a village idiot but what does IMHO mean?

In my humble opinion. :smoking:

While we're at it... what the heck does 'LOL' mean that everyone seems to post?... is it an acronym for:

Lumpy 'Orrible Lice

LOL= Lots of Love/ Laugh out Loud / Lovely old Leper depending on circumstances.

Someone Like You as good as True Faith..hmmmmm....:nonono:

Any ideas on whats being saved for that Chems EP?

Thanks guys & gals.... IMHO you all rule!

I thought Sabotage was a Beastie Boys song.

TF/1963 was a single with two equally good tracks (maybe TF is a tad bit better), which made it a super-single SLY/RTRD are also each others equivalents (maybe I like SLY a bit more) - which would make them a super-single! This is where the comparison came from. But from what Muffy said, it looks like it will never happen. RTRD (Sabotage) is a much better song than 60mph...

But then 60mph is a far superior song to SLY

How do you guys have "Player in the League"? That is the one one I can't seem to get my hands on.

Could anyone put it on the net or Audio Galaxy or something, even just for one day!

Have you heard it or are ju just kidding around? All this word-twisting is making my head spin... The song is allright, but as soon as I start thinking about that it allegedly is Barney's tribute song a certain football team.... eeehhh

I said: SLY better than RTRD --> SLY > RTRD

I said: RTRD better than 60mph --> RTRD > 60mph

This together makes SLY > RTRD > 60mph

Now for the part that doesn't make any sense (at all!!)

You said: 60mph far better than SLY 60 mph >> SLY

This can not be true, since

SLY > RTRD > 60mph

Therefore, with the help of some mathematical laws...

SLY >> 60mph !

The true statement would then be, that Someone Like You is far better than 60mph!

:)

Don't let the NME review cloud your opinion of Player in the League. With the exception of the words "you're a player in the league" in the chorus, there are no referrences to football at all. This song is fantastic as is Sabotage. Much better that Slow Jam. Much, much better than Slow Jam.

Seb and Nic have both songs.

Sabotage manages more emotion than Run Wild without resorting to Jesus/Jehova bullshit lyrics. If run wild is for Steve and Gillians daughter why do the lyrics seem geared toward someone else? Only the "...to take your hand...i wont let go..." lyric makes sense if they are for the sick child of S&G. Why would someone sing "I'm gonna live to get high" to a child who is struggling for life? By christmas we should all have Sabotage to enjoy and discuss.

'I'm gonna live to get high' probably means that he is going to live each day as if it were his last, carpe diem, and all that trash.

Sabotage is not only a Beasties Boys song, but one of their best, imho (lol).

that, Hey Ladies, Body Movin' and Brass Monkey are welcome in my house any day

OK I'll change it slightly

True Faith, 1963, Crystal, 60MPH, Turn My way, Vicious Streak, Primitive Notion, Rock The Shack, Close Range, Run WIld >>> SLY

SLY is probably the dullest track on the album, only saved from being the worst by the travesty that is Slow Jam

Seven, I'm no BB expert, but what about You've Got To Fight For Your Right To Party?

I finaly got Player in the League off of Audio Galaxy!

Thanks whoever put it up!

Now we just need "Close Range bbc Sesson" and Rock the Shack bbc Sesson"

Lets hope BBC does the right thing and release all the sessons on a cd. It would be a waste to never hear them again.

Fuck ! At long last, I'm listening to 'Run This River Dry'. hat a song ?! I love those guitar sounds ! Just amazing, fuck me !

Now I have to agree, why Slow Jam and not RTRD ?

Well, I meant Sabotage of course...

Well; let's put it that way : that guitar riff gimmick, to me, is up there with the guitar intro on Crystal. Yep ! :rolling:

On Audiogalaxy, I downloaded 'Sabotage', a 4'26". Weird song, absolutely nothing to do with RTRD.

Maybe it's the poor quality but the singing and sound are very cold wave...

Any clue, anyone ?

There are fakes on audiogalaxy. The best way is to check the lyrics on this site to what you are listening to. Sabotage is excellent. If what you heard was crap, it wasn't Sabotage!

Well, as I said, Run This River Dry was magnificent anyway, so that must be the real Sabotage

Geoff,

Did you find RTRD on Audiogalaxy? I tried a week ago and could only get my hands on a fake...
