Right, I'm probably being really stupid, but I've just had this from Tom Hingley (Inspiral Carpets) via email embedded in a list of his tour dates:

Is "Monoco" actually Monaco? Or is there another band with the same name (albeit spelt differently!)?

Thanks for all your interest in this gig. It's been a bit of a nightmare sorting it all out but I'm hoping to raise a huge amount of money for Oxfam. As well as Monaco there are some other great acts lined up so pleas try and get there early. Doors will open at 5.00pm with first band on at 5.15pm and the night will end at 11.00pm. There is also going to be an aftershow party nearby which I'll be able to give you more details of soon.

I'm in... The dress rehersal for travel/accomodation is being put into practice (later on) today for LCD Soundsystem...

If anyone's looking to share a room give me a shout. I'm flying in from Dublin late afternoon and then on a train to Winchester at silly o'clock the next morning so trying to avoid a costly "single" for the sake of about 4 hours shut-eye.
My sleep-walking's pretty much under control with the new meds now so no need to worry on that front.
we are in... Staying in sunny Rochdale on Saturday night.. then after the gig on Sunday we have a lift to Derby organised as Milk is driving a train out of there first thing Monday morning...

36 Charles Street. 5mins from Piccadilly Near the venue.
Might be some with spares in the pub but if they've only sold 100 they must be selling them on the night.

Pottsy did an interview on XFM, the gig made BBC6 Music headline news, there's been flyers put up all over Manchester and it's been on the ticketline newsletter as well as other radio stations. I've done the best I can so sorry if people on here feel that I've not promoted it properly.
I can't force people to go and buy tickets in advance but yes you can turn up on the day and get tickets at the door.

Personally, if i was one of the performers, i would be appalled at the piss poor publicity for this gig. Not one poster up around Manchester, not on magazine feature. Just a few articles online.

Well one more ticket has been sold (I wussed out of getting one at the door!) I've sorted everything now. All that needs to be done is tell my manager a work to let me go slightly early on Sunday and It'll be fine!

Have no idea who I'll be looking out for in the pub, but I'm guessing I wont go far wrong if I look for a medium size group of pissed alcoholics?

Well I'm sure, regardless of how full it is, we'll all have a good day but obviously the whole point is to raise money so I've spread the word at work and my local.
Several of my friends have said they would have gone if they'd known about it, but to be fair I think after reading Emily's post she has made an effort to advertise it in the right places.
Anyway, I think I've got about an extra 3 people interested, not many, but it's there innit. I think there will be a lot on the door anyway.

Well, I enjoyed it! Worth turning up just for "Dreams Never End" (complete with mid-song breakdown) and Hooky's terse "grow up, shitheads" to early chants of "NEW OR-DAH!!".
On a more downbeat note, Tom Hingley was fucking terrifying....

Was great hearing Sunrise and WDYWFM again after so long. Enjoyed the set.
And big thanks and congrats to Emily Strange for investing so much personal time and energy into bringing this event together. Chatting to Emily briefly last night, she's not a professional promoter, has the responsibility of a regular job, but just wanted to raise funds and awareness for a cause. Takes courage and commitment to put yourself out there like that. Good job

had a listen to the recording this morning - sounds really good! Nice work on WDYWFM Jack, looked and sounded very professional at the time, and the tape backs that up

I met Hooky outside the Ritz before the mondays gig and made an absolute twat out of myself. I vowed NEVER to myther again after that :D
I was saved from making a twat out of myself in front of Hooky thanks to Ted Baker cause I kind of lost the ability to speak! But thankfully Ted told him my whole story of coming down from M'boro and everything. I didn't regain the ability to speak when I was having my photo taken with him! He said he loved my tattoos and I was just like *Wibble*

Saw the M.E.N review about it tonight,gave it a good one, but said a shame the attendance was a bit slim. Gutted to have missed it.

The song pace, for a start. Put it down to lack of rehearsal opportunities, but the band and singer were going at different speeds, especially at the beginning. It's still a great version of a great song though.
For it to work in a studio setting, I think a really minimalist musical backing to start with, maybe even no bass but string synths instead, building up to a full band in the breaks, middle 8 and end.

yeah i was surpised that it held together at the start.
the one chance we had to practise with rowetta, my dad wasn't there, so i had to do his bassline which i don't usually do, and there was no second bass part, so when we came to play it at the gig it hadn't really been rehearsed. to me, still sounded great, particularly after the first verse when everyone is at the right pace. it's a great version the one we play.
