You lucky bastards! Here I was spending 2 weeks drinking SAGRES in the sun and 10 whole days with the shits. Saw the M.E.N review about it tonight,gave it a good one, but said a shame the attendance was a bit slim. Gutted to have missed it.

I'm drawing the raffle at the weekend so you're still in with a chance if you bought a ticket. Didn't get chance on the night and been too busy since. I will be having someone else with me whilst the draw is done to make sure it's all done fair and square.

The song pace, for a start. Put it down to lack of rehearsal opportunities, but the band and singer were going at different speeds, especially at the beginning. It's still a great version of a great song though.

For it to work in a studio setting, I think a really minimalist musical backing to start with, maybe even no bass but string synths instead, building up to a full band in the breaks, middle 8 and end.

yeah i was surpised that it held together at the start.

the one chance we had to practise with rowetta, my dad wasn't there, so i had to do his bassline which i don't usually do, and there was no second bass part, so when we came to play it at the gig it hadn't really been rehearsed. to me, still sounded great, particularly after the first verse when everyone is at the right pace. it's a great version the one we play.
