  1. "Bolts from above hit the people down below..." and Bernard's guitar on the live versions

  2. The "dup-dahdatdat" synth line can get a little dragging on a 7 minute track

  3. It's a perfect length and style of song for walking home from across campus at dusk, or for heading out to town with the chums to paint the town red after a long day.

  4. 93%

  5. White Russian, Big Lebowski-style / a tall dark Paulaner

The 1982 12" is absolute perfection. Can't be topped. I must have played it thousands of time. Then there are the live bootleg versions.

The 1987 version is "too commercial".

Ah temptation, the 1981-82 period is some of my favorite New Order music.

1.All of it, especially the guitar. 2.When its edited, 5 minutes is too short. 3.Bernards Vocals and Guitar work! 4.100% 5.Raspberry Italian Soda.

  1. Best Bit Its chorus. It just makes want to jump and dance!
  2. Worst Bit Mmmmm, can't think of one...
  3. Why you love and/or hate it I just do! It's a great song, the guitar is fabulous, the lyrics are good, the result is excellent! The fact that Kelly McDonald sang Temptation in Trainspotting (one of my favourite films) made me love it even more

Exactly!!! Why did you have to remind me of Dublin and fresh Guinness pints? I was just getting used to the idea of leaving Ireland and coming back to Greece...:banghead:

Temptation is by far my favorite NO song - Have at least 20 takes of that one, and they're all great!

  1. "Tonight I think I walk alone, Find my soul...
  2. Only the end of it pisses me off, until I push the replay buton. Then I am thrilled again!
  3. 'cause it's kiddish and so brilliant at the same time - Makes me feel so good!
  4. 110% minimum

At one point I thought this was there best song. However, New Order has servel good songs, It's hard to rate this song to me. I guess it's in the mood I'm in. If you ask me next week, I'll say it's the best ever. They have so many good songs it's hard to say. But I do place it in my top 5 No songs list.

What is there to say about Temptation. It is New Order's finest work of art period. I like the version on the Singles album the best. I like Temptation when it sounds like it just came out. Love, love, love that song!

  1. Where do I start? The lead-in to the green/blue/grey eyes part, and the way it seems to pick up momentum towards the end.
  2. Always will be slightly bittersweet for me as I associate it with one particular guy who had those green/blue/grey eyes.
  3. I love the dodgy lyrics, the whole atmosphere of the song, the beat, the "oooh's"...and it's the absolute perfect tempo to walk to.
