I'm surprised at the negativity towards this song. I think it's lovely. Sure, it's sentimental, but what's wrong with that?

Best bit - "You're the kind of person/that I always wanted to be with/you're really cool/and you always say the right things to me .....magical

Worst bit - er, to be honest, I can't think of anything. OK, if I'm pushed the last line (but not the second last line).

Why? - cos the line I quote above summed up exactly how I felt about the women I loved at the time.

Percentage - 95 (and I do mean that)

Best bit: All of it - I love the lyrics (except the last line, but I dont care) and the music complements it perfectly; if only it could go on forever. . .

this song expresses perfectly how I feel about my own children; if ever a song could bring a tear to my eye, this would be it. Now i'll go & make those wonderfull kids some dinner . . . CHICKEN anyone?

1. Best bit - The melodica. Gorgeous, yearning...perfect.

2. Worst bit - The final two lines. Nearly wrecks it all for me.

3. Why? - It has the warmth that's in such short supply on latter New Order albums, and the strings? Heartbreaking. The lyrics (for the most part) are really pretty and simple. Best thing on a rather muddled LP.

5. Why did the chicken cross the road? - No idea. I didn't even realize that roads had feelings!

1. Best bit - The bassline underneath the melodica. Tender and angry at the same time.

2. Worst bit - I wouldn't have mentioned Jesus/Jehova myself, and the reference to getting high doesn't really fit with the mood of the rest of the lyrics.

3. Why? - I had no idea that Steve wrote the words, so assumed it was one of Barneys classic odes to loss. Excellent track to close to the album, and love the Osborne mix too.

4. Rating - 90% - get rid of Jehova and change the last two lines and you have perfection.

1. Best Bit The cosy start and the break-ish part with "you're the kind of person that I always wanted to be with...".

2. Worst Bit The reference to Jehovah and Jesus, but if the lyrics were indeed written by Steven for his daughter, they make sense.

3. Why... I like it a lot because it's a very tender song - quite unusual for NO but the result is rather moving.

I am surprised at the negative reaction to this song. I love this song! I think it's right up there with Turn & Loveless.

The best bit for me is when the strings come in at the end. I love that part. As if the lyrics aren't heartwarming enough, the strings really do it for me.

The worst bit is that it has to end.

Why do I love this song? I love the acoustic guitars, the melody, Barney's vocals & I love the message.

Oh yeah, about the lyrics, I do not think that Steve wrote this song. I once heard in an interview that Barney said that this song is the most personal song he has ever written. He didn't say what it was about but I think it is about his mother. She had celebral palsy plus he was an only child. It must have been extremely difficult to lose her. When you listen to the words, it sounds like a caregiver trying to comfort someone who is nearing the end. I think that's why the last words are so flippant. It's like a relief from all the heaviness. It's like a carpe diem moment.

Oh yeah, the chicken? He crossed the road because he was going to star in a Werner Herzog movie.

It was mine and me wife's first dance at our wedding. Love it (obviously).

I love the song. Bernard sings it so well, and it has a sad tinge to it. Makes me think of the good days in Manchester.
