I was there! It was more about the day than the actual gig. It was simply getting away from the bump and grind of Manchester just for the day. The Roses were ok. I've seen them play and sound better (Glasgow Green May 90). Manchester in the Area??? Regionalism has never been cool, though I'm certain Ian was merely getting carried away with it all. This, after all was their first real big gig.

Exactly right, Mr. Gray. This whole thread reminds me of a quote that Grant Hart of Husker Du had when they were given a bunch of grief for being labeled as strictly a hardcore punk band despite their later work. Yeah. Scored 50 and took 5-26 for Worcester vs Old Hill in the Birmingham League. Followed it up the next day with a ton.

Crap, I just download two Stone Roses gigs from the bootleg site. Kinda scared to paly them now. Glasgow 1990 and Stockholm 1985.

Stone Roses were still absolutely hopeless live. Ian Brown cannot sing - he should have been in the Spice Girls with his voice.
