New Order live @ Henry J Kaiser Arena - Oakland (USA) - 2005.04.29

I wanted to keep the Oakland concert alive!

Anyone seen the Chems before? Do they just turn on their computers and put some pretty graphics on the big screen?

Really looking forward to this--hopefully New Order will have rehearsed as it is their first gig since 02.

I got my tix to Oakland yesterday.  YES!!!

I've never seen the Chems, except in video footage...

I got tix Friday through the pre-sale. Does anyone know if it's OK to bring a camera into the venue? I don't want to lose my camera or get kicked out during the concert.

My boyfriend and I are planning on going, but we haven't bought our tickets yet.

There's prolly no hurry in getting tickets (got mine on presale friday) cos Henry Kaiser apparently fits about 7000 people--surely won't be a sell out?

Saw the Chems in 99, damn good show I must say, don't remember a lot about it except that it was really packed on the main floor and most people were happily dancing.

I know Coachella lets you bring camras but I dont know about this one?

My friend went to the Chemical Bros concert here, and he loved it. He said it was just them by their keyboards and computers with a big screen behind them showing cool stuff.

But after the show the band stayed and talked to their fans behind the stadium by their tour bus.

Maybe we can catch new order after the show?

Don't you have mobile phones in the US that take pics? You can't go to any event in the UK whether it be sport, or a concert, without everyone on their mobiles taking pictures!!!

how weird is it now to look at footage of the 316 dvd where they showed people taking photos on their phones as it was a new thing back then?

You can check tripadvisor.com for a list of hotels in Oakland, but you may want to make sure you're not staying way out near the airport (that is if you're staying on the East Bay side). I've booked a room at the Marriott Courtyard downtown, it's a little cheaper than the swanky Marriott next door but not exactly what you'd call budget accomodation. However it's within reasonable walking distance of the venue and close to a BART station, and for me convenience is more important.

I got my ticket in the mail today! I finally have a concert ticket that says New Order on it. My other ones say Coachella and Area 1 .

As for a hotel in Oakland, I just dont have time to get one. I get to San Fran at 5:30pm and I'm going straight to the concert from there. And my flight back to Palm Springs is 7:00am So it will be easier to just stay at the airport for the night.

I'm also going to th econcert straight from the airport (Oakland). And then I'm leaving for the airport to wait for my flight back.

Haven't thought about a room yet Jeff,  since I'm supposed to give Tristan a ride, I may drive straight back to SoCal after the gig, we'll see what happens soon.

The Theatre is located about a block away from the Oakland Unified School District Office. I saw a show there eleven years ago, and it was solid. Not my favorite place to see a band play, I would have preferred The Fillmore in SF, but it is fairly conveniantly located for BART (I think the Nearest BART Station is about 15-20 minutes walk away from the Kaiser (if I remember right, the Lake Merrit Stop)),  not too hard to find, and if you come early you can have a nice dinner in Jack London Square which is quite nearbye, or the quite famous GingerBread House (Best Cajun restaurant West of the Mississippi according to many) or quality Chinese in Oakland's China town which is right nearbye too. I'll be going with four of my friends. I hope they keep to the rumor and do dust off some old gems. I'd go completely apesh!t if they played, Age of Consent, Leave Me Alone, Thieves, Sooner than you think, anything off of Technique that isn't Round and Round or Fine Time. Damn, well, it will be the first time I've seen them since they were touring the Ghastly Republic album at the Shoreline nearly twelve years ago, damn does time fly.

22 years for me. Time does fly! I'm looking forward to seeing them at a non-festival venue (maybe they'll play a longer set?).

Any idea what time the doors open, if the tickets say show at 7?
