i'm going to watch coxon - the last album was a big improvement on his earlier stuff

their are plenty of decent boozers in the area ( i was working at bottom of Edgeware Rd for a couple of months last summer) Starter for 10 , The masons.

A small pub with great beer - Tanglefoot, Badger and Sussex. With its open (albeit gas) fires and tongue and groove boarding up to the ceiling, it's a very comfortable and cosy boozer. This pub is definitely worth a visit for any pub aficionado, it does traditional grub, has friendly locals and prompt and friendly service. However, a word of warning: it does fill up with tourists in the summer.

I listened to some tracks by The Dears. They sound a lot like Morrissey. Not sure if thats a good thing or not.

Has anyone else received confirmation, or should I assume that the automated booking system failed, and that I should buy another ticket?

If you made a note of your booking ref, you can call 08701535353 - and after about 15 mins of automated menus you should get to speak to someone who can confirm the order - but don't expect the tickets to arrive before June!

This is our first virgin post on the site although me and my sidekick - Abdi - have been looking in for a few months. Well dont wanna bore ya with intros or such... suffice to say we have been there wiv JD/NO since 1979.

For those of you coming to Hyde Park, we ask that you look out for some delicious models showing off our newest designer New Order T-shirts. We are using he festival to laucnh our new range so please do come up and say hi to the girls - and leave contact details if you would like to be included in our distribution list.

The shirts are pure designer made items, made of the finest material and will be limited editions only. The first is based on Unknown Pleasures and the central dying star square is made of silver wire and some natty material offset with more metallic materials ..you have to see it to appreciate it - we will be putting up a jpg file here soon as we get back the first sample, so look out for it here.

We'll be drinking ourselves silly wiv da boys backstage most of the gig no doubt ... but will be out now and then so hope to see some of you then - give the girls a number or meeting point and we will come say hello and talk some more - you will love this if you thought Paul Smith was good! Most of the concerts are staged in the park lane/hyde park corner side of the park,so best to drink in the pubs in mayfair,to the east of park lane.Best spot,in my opinion is a place called shepherds market,where there are loads of pubs,restaurants,sandwich bars in a small area!!.It is situated right behind the hilton hotel,look for shepherd street /trebeck st on the map.Cheapest hotels can be found in sussex gardens in paddington,which is a fair way from the concert site,or maybe try around victoria station.There are loads of b&b`s,try warwick way,belgrave road,st.georges drive.You can walk to hyde park in around 20 minutes,or there are loads of buses and the tube is 2 stops away (change at green park).obviously the best way to get around is in a cab!!!! good luck

I lived in that area last year..if you are staying on Sussex Garden close to Bayswater Road..its about a 10 min walk..further up Sussex Gardens with be an extra 10 mins.

You could see about reserving the downstairs bar of the Paxtons Head on Knightsbridge, near to Edinburgh Gate. Quite big, don't know if you'll get 100 in there.

Alternatively, there are several pubs down Kinnerton St such as The Wilton Arms, Nags Head etc. Problem is, you might bump into Chris Evans as he used to drink in them.

Other than those, I'm struggling to think of any other suitable venues and I ought to know about Knightsbridge, I worked there for 7 years in Bowater House.

2 possibles - the Marlborough Head on North Audley Street or the Audley bit further down by Mount Street - both on corners so good for standing outside - Shepherd Market mostly wine bar / restaurants.

That Marlboro Head's the Goth place ain't it? Where we met up before Paris 2002?

Just came to me! there is a wetherspoons boozer in victoria tube station, its a fair sized place (cheap booze)easy to find and only about 15mins walk to hyde park corner. plus you got a couple of other bigish pubs outside.from there is a straight walk (or 2 stops on the bus) up grosvenor place to hyde park corner entrance to concert.

Depending what end of Sussex Gardens, it's only a 5 to 10 minute walk from Marble Arch. It's only 15 minutes to the other side of Hyde Park. I should know, I walked between my offices at Edinburgh Gate and Cumberland Place often enough :\ohwell:

I'm keeping an eye on www.wirelessfestival.co.uk as they are threatening to put more info on about timings. Bands start at 1600, but there are quite a few to get through before the main attraction...

The trend just recently has been about 14 songs per gig. Surely with Wireless we'll get at least 15 considering they are the main headliner?!? I'm expecting that we'll get one song no other concert/festival has heard yet this year. Here's hoping! EGG?

Edd: thing is Waterloo serves the south and southwest of London, Surrey, Sussex and Hants. Exeter is as far as it goes southwestern-wise so, unless you're staying in that manor, Waterloo can't help you.

Are you seeking to get back to Sheffield that night? You'll need St. Pancras for the steel city.

If you are staying in an area served by Waterloo, you should be ok tube-wise to get to it as the last tube is something like half-past twelve or so.

I've just checked and the last Midland Mainline service from London St. Pancras goes at 22:25 (gets to Sheffield at 01:39) so there you have it. You weren't planning to make a late run to the naughty north were you after the gig?! :)

On-stage at 8.00 p.m Average set time: ninety or so minutes Off-stage at 9.30 p.m approx.

There's two ways you can get back to Victoria after the gig:

Get on the Picadilly Line at Hyde Park Corner (bound to be well busy) and go two stops south to South Kensington.

Change and go east on either the Circle or District Lines two stops to Victoria.

The coach station is about ten minutes' walk from the tube.

Or....

Go one stop north to Green Park at HPC tube and change onto the Victoria Line. Take a Brixton train one stop south to Victoria. This might be quicker for you.

Reading's atmosphere was always enhanced being towards the end of the summer. '98 started in twighlight if i recall and then it all went pitch black when Garbage (literally) came on.

The official site has not yet updated its stage times for the sixteen bands on the bill for Friday but, with so many performers over a short period of time, it might be a case of blink and you'll miss them!

It's all scheduled to kick-off music-wise at four o'clock and there's very little breakdown/setup/soundcheck time between bands unless they're planning on using several stages or a Live Aid-style revolving stage.

Therefore, I reckon the earliest time the Order will be on will be 8.45 and then latest 9.30. Does anyone know of any regulations regarding sound levels in the open and the time big events have to be over by? It would have a bearing on things. Cheers.

The weather.co.uk tends to not be that accurate, it often says its raining for example all day but of course it stops.

Its the lightening I am more worried about, but the MET office is saying thunder/lightening in the morning/afternoon and light rain in the evening.

Mrs already got the picanic basket and checked rug already packed ,mmm cream buns with lashings of ginger beer might even take some champers !

Lady has packed several cardi's wellies, and her burbery trenchcoat and burberry umbrella just in case the heavens open.(we are from oop north and are quite used to inclement weather!)

Theres plenty of space on the rug for fellow noolers (not).

Just won a Basement Jaxx ticket from a competition I entered on Tuesday! :D

Well, there's 3 bands I wouldn't mind seeing that day - Infusion, Mylo and Basement Jaxx (probably popular because their Greatest Hits album was only recently released and still being advertised)...

So, that's two days on the trot now! :D

It's probably too late, as you'll all be there and pissed already, but have fun. Wish I was there.

"He just recorded a version of New Order's song "Temptation" for his new album, "Hotel" (V2/BMG), which he sent us for approval. The original is an up-tempo, almost danceable track, but it's got a really emotive quality to the lyrics. (Don't ask me what they're about; it's been so long.) I think it's one of our best songs live, and I'd go so far as to say it's my favorite New Order track of all time. I'm really glad Moby did a version of it. He slowed the track down and stripped it to its basic elements, and I think it really works. It displays the words and the melody in all their wonderful nakedness."

Not investigated further... been put off as Moby's New Dawn Fades was awful (IMHO).

yeah i know.. have read the threads about ticketline and been to the website to make sure. feel so sad that the price went down... i know it's gonna be worth it for the original price but just don't understand why such a GREAT band did not deserve what they should!!! :(

anyways.. it's my friend's ticket and she doesn't visit NOOL that often so she was informed by me. we'll see..

Just started listening to the XFM broadcast a few minutes ago.... wish I was there...

I caught LWTUA, then Temptation, now listening to the encore, they are starting with Atmosphere.

Bernard came in really late with a verse on Temptation, so it sounded kinda weird. When they came on for the encore, Bernard said they were experiencing some major technical difficulties, "so please feel sorry for us". The crowd sounds really into it. Hooky dedicated Atmosphere to all the people who aren't here tonight.

Now they are playing "She's lost control", sounds great!

Can't wait to hear more about the concert from those who were there.

Now they are playing what I take will be the last song. Let me quote Barney during the intro:

"Guess which song this is? Blue Fooking Monday! But we love it!"

Ouch, major technical difficulties indeed! Barney came in with the vocal at the wrong place again!
