Agree about Hull. I think Rochdale may actually do it this year. Did you know that they haven't been promoted for 37 years! Seb, the reason they fall off every year is that their pitch is frozen from Dec to Feb, and they have to play three games a week to catch up! (according to my Rochdale supporting boss, anyway) The Stags may get the third automatic place if they can keep hold of Greenacre, who always seems to have at least one scout watching him per game.
I wish Luton luck, Allen....it's grim in the third!! (plus it'll be an easy away game for me next season!)

This'll be the point were I make an obvious joke about Cliff Richard sneaking up on the rails, much to snakey's annoyance.

Did you know Rochdale have a player who is 42 years old! Unbelievable. Tony Ford. I thought it was bad enough that they've got Richard Jobson, 38, but a 42 year old! Doubt that pair'll last the season, mind!
The reason Ford kept playing is coz he is Steve Parkins best mate. He did the same when they were at Mansfield - kept playing despite him not being good enough. Now Parkins pissed off to Barnsley and taken Fordy with him as his assistant. Can't imagine he'll play in the 1st division mind you.
At Brighton once, we had Steve Foster and Jimmy Case. A midfield partnership aged 83 years!! They do say that you can't put a price on experience.
Tony Ford still knows where the back of the net is, though!

I was about to say Nic, didn't you notice this is a footy forum? I think they wanted to exclude those of us from this side of the ocean blue...by the way Nic...or Sebsy...0r hell, any of you that speak French, just what the heck is a Banc authentique du Forum?

We've got Stanty up front ! 39, diamond geezer, scored 10 this season so far. Gets the Dunhills out after a game, never seen him with a pint mind :)
Stanty being Phil Stant?
Jeez he used to play for us about 10 years ago, scored 35 in the season we last got promoted. A nutcase if I remember rightly - still held in very high esteem amongst the Stags fans.

No, Shug, I was seeing the Order in Frisco that day! Besides, I'm a Luton supporter. Hence the quasi-dislike of one John Barnes. WTF would I be doing at Old Trafford??!!
Is there anywhere you wouldn't go to see the order Jarvo?
As for the Man U mix-up I apologise profusely - I was a wee bit pissed last night![]()

The one and only :) He's not a nutcase ! He's a smashing bloke. All fans love him to bits if he's played for you - we even had Hereford fans paying to watch him play for us against Rushden last week. That's unheard of in local rivalry - they usually try to pull the fence down !
Aston Villa 0 - 1 Sheffield Wednesday
5th in the premiership Vs 19th in div one
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!
Phil Stant was brought in by Adams to "keep morale high in the dressing room" during the Championship run in. He scored once for us, with the worlds lowest header. About three inches off the ground I think. Him and Warren Aspinal had an account at the local bookies.
Is he still bleached blonde? Honestly, a man of his age....
Aspinal? He was a bit of a Boy in his time, wasn't he? I think Paul Dodd paints rather an interesting account of him in his book "England's No.1"! Another example of a fan who's got lucky and found his way onto the pitch!
'orrible man. What he lacked in talent he more than made up for with pure aggression. He used to drink (a lot) in my In-Law's pub during his Pompey days.
I think he has actually played for everone, at some point in his career. Had to retire last season due to injury. Last I heard he was doing a bit of scouting for us.

Yes it is :lol Honestly, he's a smashing guy. Plays for nothing, lives in Newark and travels down twice a week for training nights, trains 5 days with a league club (not sure who). Scored hat-trick a couple of weeks ago, 10 in 13 games ain't a bad record when you are 39 !
Originally posted by Allen Jarvis Shug, did you read about the young lad (just 16) from the UYM (Ulster Young Militants?) who blew himself up a couple of weeks back with a home-made bomb in Northern Ireland. Had the usual Protestant paraphernalia at his funeral, wreaths from the UDA, from the UVF, UFF, etc.And he was buried in a CELTIC kit!Apparently, he thought sport and politics shouldn't mix.One of the weirdest tales I've heard in a long time!
