Am I the one being refered to as "Afterthought?" Hmm, ok.
Not nice. Anyway, maybe I need to clarify. Let's compare "Brotherhood" era New Order verbage:
The streets are so empty at this time of nightI'd rather walk on my own than fightIn a world where I'd forgotten youI found myself forgotten, tooThat's the danger of believing booksAnd all the lies of those thieves and crooksWe sing intellectual songs of loveFrom a stolen pen to a velvet glove.-As It Was When It Was
This isn't AMAZING poetry, but when compared to:
Ya gotta look at life the way it outta be,Lookin at the stars from underneath the trees,There's a world outside and a world out there,With that tv you just don't care.-Krafty
Still, not AMAZING, but there's a definite loss in style and substance. Granted, Sumner has never been fantastic and he tends to over-rhyme. And I'm not choosing Krafty for any reason above the other tracks...(personally, I feel "Dracula's Castle" is perfect except for the one line and title)...
I'm not KNOCKING New Order. I still love the music. I just feel that the language has faltered a bit. Think of the story told in Bizarre Love Triangle. Think we're gonna get something like that again? Or Temptation?
