That's exactly what I've been saying for ages... finally a fresh version of BLT.
How come this one went under the radar and nobody knew?

Sounds awesome!!! I was expecting some lame unrecognizable mix like Van Helden's on Rest of NO.
I've always said the Crystal Method should have been New Order's producers. oh well, at least, we get a remix from them :)
This is the type of remix I would want the Chemical Brothers to do with Temptation... use Bernard's vocals on what they already have, somehow!

The Crystal Method is our answer to The Chemical Brothers :)

I've also considered what Tom & Ed might do with The Perfect Kiss.
I can hardly believe I'm saying that because I've always believed the song to be untouchable, but I just wonder what might occur with all those layers of synths, beats and guitars to cook with. And cowbells. The frogs too.
It's the last NO standard to remain untouched really. Everything else has been reworked, tweaked and remixed to buggery in recent years.
Perhaps we'll see some new twists on these sorts of tunes (Thieves also) for the upcoming live shows.

yeah it's a tidy mix. think a lot of New Order tracks would work well as breaks tracks, as you can keep the bass and the vocals in a bit easier than more housey mixes. Crystal worked particularly well. Guilt would benefit from one as well I reckon

Don't think much of that remix. The best version of BLT is this one:
Very loosely Nic, 'Breaks' is a sub-genre of dance music that is based around the 'broken' nature of its drum beats. Hip-hop style beats but sped up, if you will. It sort of mutated out of the 'Big Beat' genre of the mid-late 90s. It divides further into old skool or party breaks (often sampled heavily from old rap, electro and funk records) and nu-school breaks which are a lot harder and more techy sounding. Prominent names in the breaks scene today are guys like Lee Coombs, Meat Katie, Krafty Kuts, Soul of Man and the like. Acts like the Chemical Brothers, Crystal Method and UNKLE often employ classic breaks sounds to commercial success.
Lee Coombs 'Crystal' remix is a good example.
A lot of Arthur Baker's output fits the mould as well.

Pastie, if your consuming some pumpkin in the coming days, can I reiterate my suggestion of several years ago of the song 'Disarm'. One of Pumpkin Pie's most 'insular' moments, in respect of AOC / LMA being one of NO's.
Inverse your opinion of The Ringtone, and you have the perfect expectancy of 'Disarming the Field Mice'.
Inversing/reversing the polarity of their kit almost brought an end to the Ghostbusters, H. Are you sure this is wise for Pats to try at home?

I never wish to be the bearer of news that is forged from imperfect stone, but The Smorgasbord of Pumping Seeds 'Greates Pies' collection should perhaps been entitled; 10 pies, 8 of which are not suitable for consumption.
You pay for your pie, you take your choice.
Regarding the crossing of streams, this is surely an acknowledgment, in part, that ghosts are real enough to develop such a system?

An even more basic description would be half way between hip hop and drum and bass - without all the chavs in Bright white reebok classics and stupid caps.
I've just picked up the new Meat Katie Fabric CD - that's a very good example of 'progressive' breaks. Adam Freeland's well worth a listen if you want to come in sort of half way between the rock and breaks scene - I like his stuff a lot
You've got to hand it to SB v.2 - always dropping nice and tasty morsels in case anybody was inclined to nibble at a different topping than NO.
I keep meaning to write down some of the suggestions to sample later.
Well, I've played that re-mix of BLT. It's flippant. Sounds like it was produced by a Meercat.

Cool, I've just been listening to the Freestylers Fabric CD and the Y2K Soul of Man disc. What's the MK one like?

If there's one group I think you should try - and I've mentioned these a couple of times, it's Bloc Party. Even Hooky was bigging them up today (though looking at his other 5 'favourite song' picks, I don't know if that's a good thing...'Born to be wild'...yuck) Listened to their album almost as much as WFTSC recently
