At least no one has tried to make a very tenuous connection between New Order as "lads band" and a sort of latent homophobia, with an attraction to New Order as a straight man's dance band being an alternative to the more poofy "synthpop" bands of the same time period.

I'd sure hate if anyone tried to make that connection, flawed as it is. :D
