I just realized that Daft Punk could do a workable remix/cover of Guilt.

I always prefer my 'tuckys ORIGINAL RECIPIE, though, with a B-side of macaroni salad, just make sure the mayonaise hasn't TURNed.

I like my drumsticks HOT HOT HOT with extra ZING! So blimmin' HOT that afterwards I'm layin' in the GUTTER, grippin' me MARIE CORELLI and WAITING FOR THE SIRENS CALL.. CHORLEY HOSPITAL and make it FAST SIR!

The WFTSC promo mixes have shown up on the net, and so will these. I'm boycotting this stupid idea and downloading the mixes for free. If the record label doesn't like it, they should release a damn CD!!!

This is getting really stupid. What rubbish format will they come up with next? Only available on shellac cylinders? Only as sheet music that you have to play yourself? And if they want to make us pay for our own cdrs and packaging, could they at least make full cd quality SHN or similar available instead of crappy compressed mp3? Personally I intend NEVER to pay for mp3s under any circumstances.

After their last album I think Daft Punk should turn in their synthesizers, cut their losses, and invest in a McDonalds franchise.

as a DJ who occassionally spins here and there, unless there is a good dub version of this song (i.e., little or no vocals), i wouldn't be caught dead playing this song. the lyrics are just not great.

dj dan and morel are okay as remixers, but their styles are a little too intense these days.

will give it a listen nonetheless.

This chart, like some other Billboard charts, is based on nothing other than what info DJ's submit. It is easily manipulated. It doesn't monitor number of DJ's spinning or the frequency. The best way to stay on record co's DJ mailing list is to give favorable reviews. Look thru the charts weekly and you'll start scratching your head in wonder of the titles that chart.

For me, this should have been released instead of Jetstream, no question there... but I guess the guest vocalist forced the label's decision.

Nic...I just reread the original news article you posted....it sounds like there are gonna be two CD's issued first...one for the 'djs' and one for the 'consumers'...whatever the hell that means... and then later a 'digital release' at an undecided time...am I confused here?

Wow, since when have trite lyrics ever stopped a song being a hit on the dance floor? Surely dance music is built around repetition of the most obvious cliches in the world.

I'm no fan of the Guilt lyrics but surely there's plenty of options to rip a couple of choice lines and splice them into the mix.

i am so serious, i DO NOT hear NO on chicago radio, except through college frequency. and i RARELY hear new NO in the clubs. only the classics on themed nights. how they manage to get in on the 'HOT 100 dance tracks' list is beyond me!

After reading John's take on the press release issued to Spotnick I'm now thinking along similar lines that perhaps there WILL be physical CD singles to be had...I just wish they'ed actually called them that from the beginning instead of using cryptic Warnerspeak to describe them

I hate ipods.

(1) because all the bloody media trendies who bang on about it simply because its fashionable while knowing nothing about the technology and who think Apple invented the damn mp3 jukebox concept, when it was around for years before the ipod. (not aimed at you personally! Just the Nathan Barleys out there)

(2) because its bad technology, using a hard drive (though its getting better, roll on higher capacity solid state players) - 300 hours of music with 10 hours of battery life makes no sense at all, not to mention being very fragile, horribly expensive and prone to jog.

(3) cos of the excessive attention said media trendies pay to the design of the box while the geeks who actually made the technology possible get no respect!

(4) cos the music industry seems to be getting away with charging people nearly a quid a track for downloads, when they are saving a fortune on distribution and packaging and retail costs. For years they used to justify the high price of cds by claiming that a hefty portion was in those costs, now those costs are not applicable with mp3 and yet they still charge the same inflated prices. For inferior sound quality. And to cap it all they've changed the pricing of cd singles to try and match the quid-a-track pricing of mp3s.

When they produce at least an 8 Gig solid state player I'll be interested.

Well, I DJ. And, no kidding, I ususally throw a New Order club mix in there whether they are on the charts or not. But to back up Spotnick, 'Krafty' got to #1 on the Billboard Club Play chart and 'Jetstream' held at #3 for 2 weeks. Why the new single is not getting released on CD5/2x12" is beyond me, I fu**ing pissed, I'll tell ya that.

I think GIAUE is a brilliant track. The lyrics are excellent. Have you ever heard something like 'Hollaback Girl'?? THOSE are horrible lyrics, not New Order. Even if I have to download this on to a CD-r and play it off that, I will, even though I'm not a CD DJ.

The reason why New Order charts well is because the influence of a city like New York weighs heavily on the Billboard chart. A lot of the Top 10 tracks on the Billboard Club Play chart are New York-style club records.

I just can't understand why they are doing a digital-only release. If the record label was really concerned about servicing the customer, they would have a direct retail site up where, by credit card, you could order a CD or 2x12" copy of the single. People still spin with records, ya know. It's not the 23rd century yet, motherfu**erz.

Why are they doing this?

1. Stupidity.

2. Complete disregard for what actual NO fans actually want.

I said this earlier, but again: When Dave Gahan's 'Paper Monsters' came out in 2003, Reprise in the US put out all 3 singles on CD. Only the first two, which charted VERY WELL on the Club chart, came out on 2x12", but the third one came out as a CD Single and it was nice that the chain stores had the CD Singles in stock.

Whay does Warners have to be so damn cheap? Just press up 4000 CD Singles and 2000 2x12"s and be done with it. They'll all sell out, man. CHRIST!!! You could even NUMBER each one and they'll sell even quicker.

you spin at red-lite? quand? when would be a good time to go? have never been actually... usually do stereo or parking downstairs on a saturday night. the guy who spins downstairs at parking must have stolen my vinyl collection because buddy spins new order man! have heard blue monday everytime i went, even blt, true faith (shep pettibone and album version) and jetstream. he even plays propaganda, human league, a-ha, mode, visage and tons more decent retro.

How can it be a US single if it's download. Surely anyone can download it?
