hey spotnick, i play at the red-lite(laval)...so if you wanna hear n.o.rmx on a "real" soundsystem send me a mail p_larochelle@videotron.ca im gonna put you(or anyone who is interested) on the guest list.

cheers !

The Red Lite is like less than 5 mins from my house ;) and that is walking distance, I live on Notre-Dame-De-Fatima.

Although I have a few exclusives that would sound great there, I'm sure of it.

However since I'm not much into dancing, I wonder what I'd do at an after-hours bar that doesn't even have beer :evil4: kidding here ;)

as far as i know official downloads now count as official sales, hence are counted in the charts, at least in some countries.

Can't people just be happy that there is going to be another single? Some people here sound like the old farts that complained when vinyl went to cassette or when CD came out. I like vinyl and CDs too, but I just rip them straight to my iPod to listen to. Digital downloads are the next progression, so get used to it. I'm just happy that Guilt is being releaseed. In any form!

It is slightly different, CD offers a competitive quality to vinyl (Vinyl is the highest quality medium but CD is all your average human ear really needs) I am happy there is going to be another single but a 128kbps/Low complexity release is just not the way forward. The quality is unacceptably low and the record label are only doing it because it saves money rather than actually pressing up and distributing CDs i.e. "fleece the fans" time. I totally agree with what someone else on this thread said, why not press up 3000 copies, number them and be done with it!

I have nothing against the progression to digital downloads and also own an iPod but what I would like the online stores to do is offer optional lossless versions of the tracks for purchase. Sure the files would be much bigger (i.e. 50MB for a 5 minute track) but just about everyone has broadband and bigger hard disks these days. I'd never be off the online stores if they offered lossless quality but the way things stand iTunes and Napster have alot to learn; the 128kbps quality is shit and for the moment I'll always prefer a CD release over overzealously protected M4P files.

Disagreeing with Warner's attitude towards this single release doesn't make some of us "old farts", just means we want what we shell out for, the best possible quality whether it be CD or vinyl.

Admit it Ally, you're just pissed because you're going to spend another fortune on a promoCD

;)

I get your point, but I'm also pissed about the WFTSC 3x7" useless release, at least I can listen to the digital media files ;)

But, it's the artwork that I'll be missing.. but I think they did that to save on Saville's bill :p

Or maybe the band wasn't keen on this release and they decided to save their remixing fees by selling them online, I have no idea.

Pressing a CD is not that expensive, we did some for Community and we know that the biggest part of the price is licensing, so since they don't have to pay this, producing, let's say, 5000 CDs would have cost them less than 10000$ probably, you sell each 10$, it's pure profit there ;)

I gotta admit that what pisses me off more than any of it is the "DJ version". Does anybody know what this means yet? Are there sites that sell downloads to DJ's only?

Cause when its all said and done...the long versions are what I want....same with WFTSC. I'm gettin so frustrated with all this....

Alistair agreed with me and I'll agree with him: I too, own an iPod, but still, I treat it like a Walkman. The files' quality is not NEAR my expectations, and like Ally, I'll have to shell out for an 'in-house CD-r'.

Either way you argue it, downloading a faceless file will never carry the vibe of buying an actual item.

The real crime here is that Warners marketing is too stupid to realize that this is an opportunity to cash in on the fans on this website. Back in the day, they had these things called "fan clubs" and sometimes "fan clubs" would get the chance to buy special items not in stores and the label could make some cash on the side. This single should be offered to members of this site as a CD, at the very least.

I agree, that as a collector, this is not very fun. I am also not looking forward to staying up to midnight central on the 28th waiting for iTunes to refresh so I can buy these downloads.

It's about time I ask Warner what they think about the idea to release a "fanclub only" CD :p

That would be nice, there are some things that weren't released anywhere since 2001, and I'm pretty sure some people here would love that.

But my expectations are pretty low ;) they have nothing to win in this, except respect :p

Surely they would make some money off of this, no?

And fuckin'-a man, why is it always about money? You know, when Ultra Records cut six tracks off the US release of Armin van Buuren's 'A State Of Trance 2005' 2xCD, I was so pissed I wrote them a very neat, 2-page letter. I don't know who in Marketing read it, but I haven't bought another release on Ultra since May, I'll tell you that.

I think Warners needs a dose of respect. And on top of that, something I learned in 5th Garde holds true today:

RESPECT WINS RESPECT

MTO wrote: Well, I DJ. And, no kidding, I ususally throw a New Order club mix in there whether they are on the charts or not. But to back up Spotnick, 'Krafty' got to #1 on the Billboard Club Play chart and 'Jetstream' held at #3 for 2 weeks. Why the new single is not getting released on CD5/2x12" is beyond me, I fu**ing pissed, I'll tell ya that.

I think GIAUE is a brilliant track. The lyrics are excellent. Have you ever heard something like 'Hollaback Girl'?? THOSE are horrible lyrics, not New Order. Even if I have to download this on to a CD-r and play it off that, I will, even though I'm not a CD DJ.

The reason why New Order charts well is because the influence of a city like New York weighs heavily on the Billboard chart. A lot of the Top 10 tracks on the Billboard Club Play chart are New York-style club records.

I just can't understand why they are doing a digital-only release. If the record label was really concerned about servicing the customer, they would have a direct retail site up where, by credit card, you could order a CD or 2x12" copy of the single. People still spin with records, ya know. It's not the 23rd century yet, motherfu**erz.

I beg to differ...NYC is not the end all of what gets charted...Matter of fact NYC is probably one of the least innovative cities when it comes to dance music.

I too have been banging out New Order remixes left and right whenever I can...I have truly found most NYC DJs to be boring and stuck on one beat all night.

MTO this is not directed towards you in any way since I never heard you play.

Just blabbin

Can someone tell me what the original press release says cuz I get an error on the first thread.

Thanks

People like to see physical product. To me, music isn't data. It's art. Kids who only know downloading have no problem with buying music as mp3's. I think NO fans are people who have a bit more respect for history. I don't buy downloads : low quality, DRM'ed-to-fuck rubbish. I'd buy a CD in an instant, though.

Spotnick wrote: Well, I wouldn't be surprised if there were promo 12" (as they said they were sent to DJs) and promo CDs (as they said they would send it to me)

But I'll investigate further.

For me, this should have been released instead of Jetstream, no question there... but I guess the guest vocalist forced the label's decision.

I'm a little disappointed though, I thought they would include some WFTSC remixes on there.

What fukkin DJs got this...I know I didn't get one.

I've only done GO, CROBAR, DEEP, SOL, NEOGAEA amongst numerous lounges...Da fuk else I gotta do??

At least I'll listen to the fucking tracks and play em if I like em.

Well, ((((e)))), I understand what you mean about New York not being so innovative, but it seems to me, the tracks I see on the Top 10 or 20 of the Billboared Club Play chart seem to be those mid-paced New York-style house tracks.

You see a lot of ethnic female vocalists, Norty Cotto remixes, Supechumbo, crap like that (I could go on). Whenever I go out in NYC, the vibe is certainly more ethnic and I think the Billboard Club Play chart reflects that. That's why I say that.

Honestly, I wish I DID know how the Club Play chart was compiled. But I see all these New York style cuts there, I never see, for example, 4 Strings, which is a Dutch trance group that gets played a LOT in Miami, which is quite an ethnic city.

Maybe you can shed some light on this.

We will be putting out the sirens call mixes in the near future. Just don't have a plan yet.

Will get you details on the Singles. Its coming through Rhino here.

well, you know that taking care of lindsay lohan does eat up a lot of warner's time. we must remember that, everyone. new order simply aren't at the top of the record company's list of priorities; rightly so as lohan is a star! (jazz hands smilie inserted here)

I f*cking hate Linsday Lohan and her anorexic no-talent ass! She should stop partying with Tara Reid and blowing Wilmer Valderama and do us all a favor and die in a mountain of cocaine, seriously! I know that there are young acts with talent (Killers, Arcade Fire, Bravery, Franz Ferdinand, etc.), but apperantly my fellow Americans between 5-??? love their teen-pop! Give it a rest, honey!

I always prefer my 'tuckys ORIGINAL RECIPIE, though, with a B-side of macaroni salad, just make sure the mayonaise hasn't TURNed.

After their last album I think Daft Punk should turn in their synthesizers, cut their losses, and invest in a McDonalds franchise.

I like DP, I liked Homework and Discovery but the only track I like fron their new on is Technologic. That being said I think they might be worthy of an NO remix! Stress on the word might.

you spin at red-lite? quand? when would be a good time to go? have never been actually... usually do stereo or parking downstairs on a saturday night. the guy who spins downstairs at parking must have stolen my vinyl collection because buddy spins new order man! have heard blue monday everytime i went, even blt, true faith (shep pettibone and album version) and jetstream. he even plays propaganda, human league, a-ha, mode, visage and tons more decent retro.

Ah, yes, it's good that some DJs are rediscovering/discovering the sound of the 80s!
"OK, pop music, does anyone like the Human League?"
Sorry random Young Ones moment!

Yeah, I'm so stoked that there is gonna be a new single, and I don't care how I get it, buy or download, it will one day go into my iPod!

I prefer the CDs myself. I'll download if I have to if the thing is made unavailable or hard to find, but that's the extent i'll go. And finally! Someone who gets the fact that music is a form of ART!!!

I can add that every mix comp you see has some of the same tracks as the next one. You know I don't mind trance or Superchumbo, but it makes me wonder where all the GOOD club music went to. It makes the next Global Underground a joy to own and play on you stereo/iPod/Discman/Walkman.

But you know the Global Underground series has gone kind of stale, Andrew. I love Way Out West but I can't stand to see another Nick Warren Global Underground #54. They could have been SOOOO diverse with that series and it went to pot.

A great new comp series is Bedrock Original Series. Check those out. And if you really want to hear the most upfront dance music in the WORLD, BAR NONE - check out Anjunabeats Vol. 3 CD (on Anjunabeats in the UK, Ultra in the US) and Lost Language's 'Exhibition III' 3xCD (Lost Language) - I think that's where the next level music is right now.

But what about that GIAUE CD Single?? - I NEED IT!!

Where the fuck are we supposed to get the Morel dub?

This is a very purplish song, hence ....

All Warners US needs to do is design the GIAUE cover just like the WFTSC and Jetstream promos. Put a capital 'G' in the middle and the print can be in black. Just black and white.

There Warners, how's that for saving money? Now give yourselves a 10% Christmas bonus and DELIVER MY SINGLE ON CD and 2x12"!!!!

Well Billboard is reported to by radio stations and DJs of record pools and shit like that. Then they rank em. Record pools aren't what they used to be.

I think someone is getting payola though. When you hear the same 20 fukkin songs every hour there's something wrong.

I think NYC is too commercialized these days and infected by shitty hip-hop (yes there is good hip hop out there) and dance records. That's why NY DJs who play the really good dance records aren't highly publicized...they lose out to the overseas DJs who have more flexibility to be innovative. We need to get our heads out of our fuckin asses and get good local DJs gigs w/o having to kiss up to clearchannel.

I'm not bitter but shit needs to change...You have to break through overseas just to come back and play in your backyard...Not good!!!
